Unhappy Signal strength

Anyone experience problems with the remote control? It doesn't seem to work until I'm about 5 feet away from the car.
Also the radio signal really sucks. Is there any fixes or recommendations for either?

Thanks in advance

yeah, that happens...

sometimes when you bang the key up against stuff, or drop it... the things starts getting a little faulty and isn't as sensitive... try changing the battery, it may help a little.

worse of the worse, get a new key. your SA might even hook you up with a free replacement

Radio? can't really do much... those glass embedded antennas suck a$$, pretty poor reception overall...

As far as the remote not working very I did notice that the Panic button has a lot farther range than the other buttons. I wonder if it was a security thing. I probably wouldn't want to unlock my car until I was close to the car anyway. Although if you forget to lock it and you are already past the 7 or 8 foot limit then it can be a little frustrating. I would also try changing the battery to see if it helps boost the signal.

I do notice the garage door opener signal really sucks. Everytime I pull out of my driveway and forget to immediately close the garage door I have to pull back into the driveway in order to get close enough for the thing to work.

I also noticed it my radio signal is weaker than usual too. However I actually have the external rubber antenna instead of the embedded window antenna.

Has anyone tried chanching that antenna to see if the strength can be stronger?

hmm.. i'd say, i'm opposite... i have pretty good garage signal strength... I can usually start opening my garage door about 2 houses down... so by the time I actually reach my garage/driveway, it is practically all the way up and I don't have to wait...

Heh, same crap happens to me. I was walking with my friend to our cars and at over 10ft away my friend hits the remote to his Toyota Matrix, so did I only to find that it didn't work. As I got closer I kept trying it. Nothing, up and until I was 5ft away. suxs. He was laughing at me ah at least I still turn heads when I turn the corner.

I'll have to try getting a new battery.

don't waste your time or money on a new battery. It doesn't make a difference.

its weird though, my old key kinda sucked and was scratched so i got a new one... the new one worked great... then after a few months, i thought i lost my new key, so i pulled out my old key, and instantly felt that the buttons were much more responsive... but then i found my new key back.. maybe i should try my other new key and see how that responds...

so, whats the point of this post...??? i have no clue.. just felt like saying something...

Yup... you are very right...

As of right now, at my home, I have (including the ones I'm using)...

3 Sets of Keys
4 Valet Keys - little metal key (1 is from a different car so I can actually lock the glove box)
3 Sets of Rims
5 Sets of Tires
7 Shift Knobs
9 Sets of Car Speakers
3 Headunits
2 Sets of Headlights
6-8 Sets of Light Bulbs
2 Speedometer/Clusters
2 Sets of Lug Bolts

I have lots of unecessary stuff... I needa sell them and get rid of it...

i tried changing the battery on mine and it seemed to work just a tad bit better. I've talked to several people about the *****ty range, and someone told me that it's because the 2 batteries aren't making good contact with each other in the remote, cuz they shift around alot. *i really don't know about that.......
