Drop is starting to settle in

Hey everyone, just a few picks showing how the drop is starting to settle in. I'm loving how the swap has kicked up the handling quite a bit and I'm loving the stance.

Did not want to go super low but I'm really liking the reduced gap so far and I will like it more if it settles a bit more. (About 200 miles since install) but if it stays the same and does not get any lower I'm happy too. Installed ball joints as well but forgot to snap a pic.

Anyway, enjoy and thanks for looking

You don't see too many blue CLK's. Nicely done.

Looks pretty good. How is the ride as far as harshness? I find the stock setup with my 19" wheels a little harsh on bad roads. I'm wondering if new shocks are due. I'm not a fan of really low cars, mostly from a practical standpoint, but this appears to be just enough. I wonder if wheels larger than stock would fit.

Thanks. Yeah, I had so many other color cars but never blue, loved this shade when I saw it at the dealer. Couldnt find red so I went with my back up color blue.

Well, I think my old shocks were past due because it was kinda ruff on bad roads. So with all new gear plus tires it's like a brand new car. How many miles you got? That will kinda help determine how soon you need ro replace.

Yeah I did not want to go lower because there are quite a few speed bumps and humps in my travels. Also, my driveway has that drop off that would give me issues if I went much lower. I could do smaller shims if the desire to get lower comes up. I went lower than what I had at stock shims but I still have room to play if need be.

Thanks to you both for the feedback.

Hey TMG,

The mod looks great, What spring pads did you use? I have seen some without but final tweaking can be adjusted with different sized pads. Might help in the driveway hump and speed bumps etc..... The spring pads might reduce fatigue in spring and frame mount, plus reduce creaking and clunk.
Once the suspension seats in time will tell. I have read about H&R in many posts but haven't researched a reputable supplier, Did you get a good package deal?

That car looks really sharp, nice work.

Thanks, appreciate it.

I had 17mm in back and 21mm in front. Now I have 13mm front & rear. Only 200 miles since install, we will see how things look after the next 200 miles (by this Friday)

Everything os pretty quiet now and as mentioned I happy with the drop as is because no issues with getting up the driveway or speep bumps.

As for deals, I don't know if one place is evere night & day cheaper than the next. I got mine from Tire Rack and I'm satisfied.

Would you mind posting up the list of parts that used with the parts numbers. I'mlooking ahead to having to do new shocks in a few thousand miles so having some sense of what was involved in your set up would be useful for planning. Car looks great BTW!

Not at all and thanks for the compliment.

H&R sport springs #29772
Bilestein sport shocks Front #24-025997 Rear #24-018555
Shims front#210-321-03-84
Shims rear#210-325-03-84
Part # n/a for ball joints

I might have the shims reversed (front with back) the receipt just says the # not which is which.

99CLK320,
"I might have the shims reversed" I hate to brake the news to you but that won't work. The front pads are larger in diameter than the rear. Just though I would save you some disappointment.

Thats not what I meant, I was saying that what I wrote as front shims above may be back shims and vise versa because I dont know which number is which off the top of my head. The receipt does not say front or back next to the part number so I wanted to clarify that the part numbers may be flipped in the post not on the car.

Since I physically saw the shims it was easy to see the front and backs were different sizes.
