Steering Wheel Color
Anyone have a lead on the dye, specifically the color of the steering wheel and dash for a 2002 CLK430 with Oyster colored seats / carpet. The seats obviously I know are oyster, however, the upper dash, center console, and steering wheel are a darker color. Well the dye has warn completely from my steering wheel and it looks terrible, and with the rest of the car in immaculate condition, it sticks out like a sore thumb. There's a guy in town who apparently "custom mixes" the color to match, then does the process to re-coat the steering wheel... However, I've seen kits to DIY, which I wouldn't mind as it couldn't be worse than it is.

I think replacing the steering wheel would be a better option. I think you can find used or rebuilt ones. I have seen somewhere steering wheels that are rebuilt with different materials and grips.

I am interested in steering wheel repairs as well. My front seat when lifted rubs on the O.E.M. webbing and is now worn through.
I was considering grafting a part of an aftermarket cover with hobby crafting wire to repair the scuff. Another project D@M, Oh well!!
Dye for small jobs might work with shoe leather Dye, Is there such a thing as a shoe repair shop any more? LOL
Interior shops that service the used car market might be a good resource as well.

I've dyed interiors. Leather seats, steering wheels, door panels and dashes all dye the same.
Also, want a custom two-tone interior? It's easy.
