2001 CLK 320 coupe
One eyed MB

I've used all the solutions I know of to cure the problem of a clouded
headlight on my 2001 320 coupe. The affected headlight in question, and the fog lamp, are only on one side of the car. My first thought was that the car had been in anaccident but I have seller's assurance, and car-facts report that says
otherwise. I've tried toothpaste, and some stuff made to polish out
scratches from plexiglass. Used much elbow grease in both cases, but even
though it improved slightly (?) it's still noticeable.
If I have to, I'll replace the lenses in both. If so, can only the lens be replaced,
or must the whole headlight be replaced ???
Hoping for good news.
Thanks for any and all help

You can just replace the lense. You didn't mentinoed using sand paper?
IF your lenses are bad then you can try a 800 grit wet and dry with water then go higher to 1000 and 1200 grit. Theres lots of kits you can buy that have all the paper you need .
Just type in headlight restore kit in google.

You can also use T-cut to clear the lense. Forget the toothpaste this is just for very lightly misted lenses and doesn't work .

I recently went aftermarket with my headlights, so the factory xenons are sitting around my garage. I recently polished them up but they could probably be touched up. If I recall, I used the Mother's headlight kit that has that polishing ball you attach to a power drill. The drill was what made the difference. I had pretty much given up on my headlights, but that drill bit made a huge difference. Also, I used a very high speed electric drill.

If you're interested in just replacing yours let me know. I'm willing to part ways with mine.

For reference, here's my car before polishing them up.

Thanks Gents

Thanks for the suggestions. At this point I'll try to "bring 'em back alive"
using one or all of the methods you've suggested.
If that fails, I'll certainly consider replacing them.
This is a great forum, and I hope I can add something to it once
I've gotten more experience with my MB.
Best Regards, and Merry Christmas

A little off topic but what wheels are you running? What tire sizes and any rubbing?

wheels were from SonicTuning. Don't think they offer them anymore though. Tires are 225/35/19 up front (slight stretch) and 265/30/19 in back. The car is lowered roughly 1.5 inches all around with no rubbing that I have noticed.

I just polished my lights on the clk55. I used the 3M headlight restoration kit. It really worked out well. I am impressed on how much better they look. The headlights work much better now. Be sure to protect the paint with masking tape. I messed up a little and put a swirl in the paint on the bumper because I didn't tape out far enough.

Here comes bright eyes (maybe)

I just bought some Quixx, headlight restorer this afternoon and will
will give it a try over the weekend. It's made in Germany so perhaps
it's as good as some of the other brands I've heard of; looks simple enough.
If it turns out OK I'll try to post some pictures.
