Proud owner of a CLK 55 now!

Thought I would update you guys with some of my excitement of my recent purchase of an 01 CLK 55. Its always been a dream car of mine and after driving around my 98 320 for 7 years it was time to upgrade. I picked it for quite a deal, has a decent amount of mileage but the car runs great and the power difference from the 320 to a 55 is just crazy. I plan to get everything mechanically sound before I start on anything cosmetic but I will keep you guys updated! AMG FTW!!!!

Thanks fellas I look forward to having the new project to get dialed in. Its pretty amazing how much low end torque these things have and yes they get to 100 very easily!

0-100 is impressive, so too are the shift points. You'll find that other cars that try to pull on you will fall short because of your gearing. I just love that. The beast just keeps on acceletating

Lets see pics of your new beast! Sounds like you made a nice upgrade. My favorite is of course the black on black and white interior color combo. The two tone black/white, black/blue, and super rare black/red interiors look amazing on these cars.

Mine is black on black leather. I put some 18 inch SL 55 AMG wheels on her for now. I will post some pictures soon.

I am currently trying to sell the 320. She has 285k miles. Might be one of the higher mileage clks around huh? She runs great tho. Trying to get between 2-3k anyone interested?

What issues did you see with the car having that many miles? I'd be interested from a reliability with mileage standpoint. I know of some E36 and E46 BMW's reaching 300k on original engine and transmission with only maintenance and accessories replaced.

I had zero issues. Everything original. The biggest things I had to replace were the radiator and the alternator.

I think whatever wheel you decide to choose will be perfect. But imho I would get the suspension where you want it first. That way you won't be married to a set of wheels that may not fit if you decide to lower (or raise) that beautiful machine. But I like the sl55 amg turbine wheels for sure!
