problem soft top clk w208 but insisttt
Hi guys,
I'm mr bongi from italy...well i have a problem with my clk cabrio w208 ...2001.
well soft top stopped working.
when i turn the grey hand...windows go down.
roll bar stay stopped
.....
i've changed 2 relays in fuse back
i've manully moved the rollbar and it works....with somthing strange for me...i hear that it goes up but when it goes up the pump never stops.
idem when it goes down...let explain ....i don't hear anything that engage...no stops of the pump due to a stop-switch
I've checked the fuse.
i'switched the realey to make start the pump...and it works...
any suggestion ????
Help me Crew
i've linked my galaxy smartphone to odb2 with a elm327 but no faults detected....ufffffff what's wrong??
i'have the doubt the problem is the rollbar....

jovie75,
welcome to the forum! What you are writing is very hard to understand. Could you try again to give us a precise description? Try full sentences, less mumbling, and correct spelling. If you put more effort into your post, then the good folks on this forum will be more motivated to help you, and we will probably find a solution faster.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
ODBII will not read soft top error codes.
Does your CLK have the feature where windows drop a few millimeters when you open the doors?

You only need to re-synchronize the soft top, if it was in a partially open position when the battery is discounted.
In the USA owner's manual, when the battery is disconnected, the systems that need to be re-synchronized are explained on page 265 (e.g. clock, front seats, windows, electric stability program and sometimes the soft top).
Sounds like you have already done some research / reading of prior posted problems.
The soft top controller will check for certain conditions and if present, then initiate the next step
From reading through your prior comments, after unlatching the locking handle, the windows will lower, if necessary the roll bar will lowered by the hydraulic pump etc..
The hydraulic pump (and the relay that starts it) seems to operate OK through the roll bar operation. However, later in the opening sequence, it doesn't.
The soft top opening sequence, conditions of what the controller must see to initiate the next step are detailed in post #16 at:
https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...-failures.html
Have you checked that (3) soft top cover locking switches and/or wiring are in proper condition (e.g. the roof operation will not proceed unless the rear soft top cover is open)?
Since you already have access to the pump, have you tried temporarily swapping the fuel pump relay in place of the pump relay?

The status of every position/limit switch vs. each stage of the soft top opening are in the attachments in the post/link previously sent.
Additionally, within that thread there are many tips and more importantly, specific problems found and how to repair.

You need to release the hydraulic pressure and unlock the top cover using the tools in the MB toolkit.
You will find the factory instructions, with pictures, in the Practical Hints section of your owners manual.
