Brake Pads: Cost?

I just got quotes of $280 and $230 to replace the front brake pads for my clk 320.

Does this sound right? (seems steep)

Should I bring it to a non-MB service place?

Forgot to mention- I'm assuming front brake pads b/c I got the message regarding "brake lining".

(Does 50K seem a little soon for new pads?)

That's a pretty good price. Pads cost ~$120 and the labor should cost ~$150. $230 for package is decent.

I just had my front brake pads changed at almost 50k. Mercedes quoted a price of $120 for the pads and my uncle is a mechanic, so I got away paying around $150. Mercedes labor costs are out of control.

You can get a set of brake pads for $65.

And add in the brake pad sensor for $2.

Then take it in to a local mechanic shop and have them install it all for about $65 or install it yourself.

These parts/prices were pulled from http://mercedes.thebenzbin.com/

Thanks for the info-
