Silver Turn Signal Bulbs

Hello all,

I was looking thru ebay and I found these silver bulbs that are supposed to replace the stock turn signal bulbs in the headlamps

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2461858124

I thought there was a yellow reflector in the headlamps and that changing the bulb would not make a difference

Please advise and as always thanks for all of the comments!

Re: Silver Turn Signal Bulbs

There's no need to buy those bulbs, go to pepboys or kragen and buy a silver spray can, take all your signal bulbs out and spray them. Work the same way. Use a plastic bag to hold the bottom of the bulb when you spray. Have fun.

I wouldn't recommend spraying the bulb, they often blink dimmer, and sometimes even smoke! I can't tell from the picture you linked to on ebay, but those may be spray-painted bulbs as well. I would recommend something like a Stealth Bulb, which has a silver coating, but illuminates amber. This would work on all 4 of your blinkers, and really does make a noticable visual difference.

The OSRAM bulb looks bluish/rainbow when not illuminated, and this will be noticable inside the blinker housing. If you prefer this to clear, than I would say go for it. But remember that it is not a clear bulb.

Thanks,

Ben

Thanks guys for the info! I do have a few more questions:

What size are the signal bulbs? Also, what size are the bulbs right above the E1 or M17 bulbs (the parking lights)?

Thanks in advance!

I sprayed all of my orange bulbs and it turned out great. Make sure you get a good can of paint that will work well with moderately high heat. Also, tape off a little section around the bulb before you spray them so you leave a little orange in it. That will help to prevent a ticket and if you tape a thin line around the circumference of the bulb, it gives it a nice "angel eye" type of flash when you have the turn signal on.

just wanted to add that, the silver spray paint should be heat paint. If it is not heat paint this is why it smokes.. Been there done that. If you use heat paint, you can get 500 such bulbs from one spray can and they work perfectly. No artistic talent whatsoever is crequired. Just point the spray can at the buld and spray circumferentially. The paint does not even need to be even. works perfectly. I habe bought the pre-maid siver vision bulbs and they never specify where the prongs are. wated like $100 bucks buying different ones. Depending om whether or not the bulbs are to be used in the rea or the front, the prongs will need to be either across or offset. The base will have either two contavt points or one. They never tell you which one they are selling. Caused error blinking in my CLK. Solved the problem by buying the correct yellow bulb locally and spray painting it with heat paint. Again, works perfectly!
