Key will not turn in ignition
Hi Guys,

I have a 1999 CLK 320. The batteries started to die in my Key. I took it apart and replaced with the 2025 3v batteries. The unlocking and locking now works great.
But now the key will not turn in the ignition. It is the chrome key and is my only key. I have tried syncing it with holding lock and then unlock 5 times. But cannot get it to work.
I called the dealer and they require that I tow the car to them.

Do I have any other options?

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid
had to tow the car to the Dealer and order new key. A small copper wire came off inside my key after battery replacement. If I knew where and how to resoughter it back on it would have been fixed. Tow $160 because it was locked in Park. New Key $323.

The cost of a spare key is cost prohibitive unless you factor in the cost of the tow and the waiting time for a new key. Meaning I. Need to purchase a spare as soon as possible!!

I can probably fix the 1st key for you, if dealer didn't turn it off via DAS.

Sry i couldnt figure how to reply other than this. Key worked till i dropped it and coil fell off. S500nubie

yeah, can be fixed.

battery tray should have fcc id with 49031 in it.
