1999 CLK320 Air Conditioner fan issue
Greetings,
I have a 1999 clk 320. While accelerating, the center vents stop putting out air. Let off the gas to de-accelerate and the air comes back through the center vents. The air is cold and when the air shuts off on the center vents it doesn't increase on the side or top. Also, changing the vent direction doesn't seem change the air direction...it always comes out of the windshield and front vents -no air in the footwell. Running the diagnostic, here's what I get:
Error code eb1421 some research says this is a pulse module?
Diagnostic codes:
1 83
2 86
3 55
4 80
5 77
6 199
7 15
8 115
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Pat

Thanks but what would be the connection between expansion valve and vents not operating?

Out Of Control!!
You seem to have two issues---A=proper evap temp and B=air distribution----If you don't have the proper cold air temp it takes way longer to cool down the applicable space----Then if you have the cold air, but unable to distribute(via flaps) the cold air to the applicable areas it also takes way too much time to cool the space!!
Additionally, fan speed has nothing to do with engine RPM. Fan speed is controlled via the AC controller.:eek
You need to read up on and understand your system then see a proper AC shop and have them evaluate your system----then you can spend a couple of weekends fixing the problems!!

I found the vacuum line for the vent actuators. I pulled it at the intake manifold and tried to pull a vacuum. No vacuum which indicates a leak someplace between the firewall and the actuators. I'll continue to work on it and update this post as I get time.

My '01 55 has started up with the vents closing on acceleration thing. I will be very interested in your progress.
Also what are your climate controllers version codes? It's the last two settings in the diagnostic mode. Mine are 200 and 14

I found the leak. It was a vacuum connector at the vacuum reservoir located in the right front fender. The vacuum line that services the hvac vents starts at the rear of the intake manifold, goes along the firewall to the right front fender, into the fender to the vacuum reservoir, a 4 inch by 4 inch box mounted inside the fender. To get at the reservoir, remove front tire, remove rubber inner fender, remove reservoir box (2 8mm bolts) you'll see two plastic connectors. I replaced the broken one with 7/32 vac hose and adaptors I got at aito zone until I can get a proper. connector. Replaced connector and tested for vacuum. All vents work now.
