Glad I got an extended warranty.
Since then I've been making a list of little nagging problems - nothing major, mostly just annoyances that I would get fixed when I would take my car for it's next service.
This past weekend my ABS and EPS / BAS lights came on and I decided to take my car in to get fixed. I gave the dealer the list of problems I'd collected over time.
Called my service advisor later in the day and he told me that he spoke to my warranty company and due to the high cost associated with the fixes they're going to send an adjuster in to check the vehicle (surprise!). He gave me the following breakdown:
All of these items are covered under the extended warranty
EPS / ABS light is on
Rear interior light doesn't work ($650 +)
Gas guage fixes (going to replace 2 senders and possibly instrument cluster).
I for one am a very happy person right now that I got the extended warranty.

What warranty company do you have?
Eleni: I thought my bulb was out as well. However my service advisor said they did some testing and they weren't getting a voltage. They ended up replacing the front overhead panel ($ 545 part, $ 109 labor - total $ 654). Looks like they replaced it with a 2000+ CLK panel which has some subtle differences from my original 1999 panel. For one, the 2000+ panel has a much better sunroof switch - with my old one I felt like it would break off every time I would touch it. All in all I'm glad they did what they did :-).

I find it intriguing that I can go to a Chrysler dealer and buy a Daimler Chrysler extended warranty, based on what people have written here. It seems like the average price for this is about $3000.
However, when I went to the MB dealer(Park Avenue Motors in Palo Alto, CA), he tried to sell me a Platinum policy from a company called Western General. That was pricing around $6300!
He explained that there are lots of different policies and that I should shop around, agreeing with me that the WG policy is pricy. He did emphasize that I should check to see if the policy I get offers OEM replacement part coverage.
He said that if it did not, then if stuff like the COMAND system broke down, I would be out of luck, because there is no equivalent aftermarket replacement part for the COMAND.
The WG policy could be purchased in different levels, like Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Plat. The Gold offered everything except the OEM parts, and was priced around $3,000 cheaper.
Any thoughts??

Shop around and let us know what you find. FWIW, most aftermarket warranties WILL NOT TOUCH any AMG or V12 Mercedes-Benz (there is one, but I can't recall the name). That's the reason why I bought the MB Premium Extended Warranty ($0 deductible) during the first 12 months of ownership. I opted for the 7year/100K deal.
Good luck!
