couple maintainance questions
i don't have the service manual yet so i have couple questions. I just changed my oil to mobile 1 synthetic 2000miles ago. and I want to make sure how long they'll last. im thinking 7000miles? also is the tranny fluid life time or do i need to change it? if so when? my car is at 40400miles right now. thanks for the help.

I change my Mobil1 and filter around 5000-6000 miles. Or right after I track the car.

This study seems to say that Mobil1 thinks 8000 miles or so or longer with a filter change.

A lot of new cars say 15000 miles.
It is the black art. I'm sticking with 5000-6000 miles and synth.

I agree about the tranny and rear diff fluid change.
I change my Mobil 1 at 5,000 intervals in the CLK and every 3,000 to 4,000 miles for the dino oil in the CE.

Stick with 0W-40 or 15W-50 Mobil 1.
Some oils which are not recommended:
Mobil 1 Super-Syn 0W-30 SL/SJ/CF A1/B1/A5 9.7 doesn't meet 229.1 nor ACEA A2 or A3
Mobil 1 Super-Syn 5W-30 SL/SJ/CF A1/B1/A5 9.8 doesn't meet 229.1 nor ACEA A2 or A3
Mobil 1 Super-Syn 10W-30 SL/SJ/CF A1/B1/A5 10.1 doesn't meet 229.1 nor ACEA A2 or A3

Go to AutoZone and get 0W-40 Mobil 1 (recommended by both Mercedes and Porsche). It was formulated for European high performance engines and will work in any climate.
Both companies approve Mobil 1 15W-50 as an alternative.

My oil was recently changer w/o a topsider
A local Mercedes/BMW mechanic replaced the oil in my CLK430, and drained it through the bottom of the vehicle (traditional method). Is this a problem? Did he jack up my car?

Anyone have good recommendation of good MB service advisor in NJ? I live in central NJ and my car need B service soon (in a month) and want to get it done right. I call up German car shop and they quote me $500 up. Is it true? I heard people said around $250 at west coast.

As for the car manual for an 01 430 CLK, I just downloaded a PDF version from Startecinfo last week. Give me a few days and I will upload it to my website so you can grab it.
For service in NJ, I have delt exclusivly with David Michael Mercedes in Freehold, the service managers name is Chad, I think B Service is 420.00. They always treat me right and luckily my service is still included under warranty which I have until next year.
They have completed about 7k worth of warranty work for me and it seems the car is now almost perfect!
Chad even has rented me a car when they ran out of lenders two weeks ago.
Tell him Robert with the black CLK sent you and im sure he will take good care of you.
I have heard bad things about Ray Catena MB from more then one person.

Ray Catena gave me hard times since I didn't purchase my ar there, and I also heard a lot of negative about their services.
Freehold MB is kind of far away for me ( an hour drive) but will consider it

On my BMW, you pretty much just drain and refill the tranny, note, that I have a manual transmission though.
For the diff, full was the overflow point of the refill opening while the vehicle was level.
One nice tip I heard was, loosen the diff refill plug first. Prevents draining the fluid and then not being able to get the refill open! I was like, that's smooth.

I have one more B service left in my warrenty. do they change all the oil/tranny/diff fluids? or do they charge money for them? my service is due in 3000miles or 6 months 4 months which ever come first.

I haven't had this service done on my CLK yet....(I'm at just over 11,000 miles). But the transmission service alone on the CE runs $100+Call you mechanic and ask.
