Lou430 I have a question ?

Hi Lou,

I have a question, hope you can help me.

I am in a process of getting a suspensions for my car.

Thinking about getting Kleeman or H&R and koni set up.
Since you had both of them, can you give me any advise on it.

Having in mind that we both live in NYC.
thanks in advance

simon78 that is a tough question to answer because it all depends on what is important to you. In my opinion the Kleemann suspension is a better suspension than any other..... particularly since the springs and dampers were design to work together. I had the Eibach springs and Koni adjustables and in my opinion the car is too low and soft for NY streets. The Kleemann suspension is the perfect ride height for my taste and offers a sportier ride without comprimising luxury. I heard great things about the H&R cupkit but I still think it might be too low for NY. Also take into consideration if you're keeping the car or if you want to track the car there are too many variables.

The Kleemann suspension drops the 430 anwhere between .70-1.0 inch so it wont make the camber too negative and also it allows enough cushion for a comfortable ride. I wish you would of let me know before I took it off to show you how it rides.

sorry if I wasnt much help but it all depends and how much you're willing to spend for an increase in performance and luxury.

Thanks Lou,

I think i am going with H&R and Bilstein shocks.
I am planning to get it at Autowerks, in SD. they have great prices and very detailed in options.

He recommended me to go by this combination to maintain my ride quality and lower as you said about 1.0inch.

I will let you know how it goes.

BTW, do you want to trade your rims with my HRE 19inch ?

Simon great choice but if Im not mistaken the H&R lower the car more than the Eibach which is 1.2.....H&R = 1.6 front and 1.3 rear. I thought the Eibach were too low especially in the snow unless you like being the snow plower I hate the stock suspension but figured if I wanted a sportier ride I should opt for the 6 series or Porsche.

I love my Lorinser wheels but I find myself driving so slow in order not to bend a wheel...sometimes I wish I was on the stockers to rip the streets. I cant see myself driving on 19s in NY that must be very stressfull.

let me know how you like the suspension

Lou, going through the same thing. I am changing my setup, again, to something I don't know yet what. Currently I have the H&R / Koni, and I am getting a terrible vibration right now out of the car. It also lowered the car 1.3 front and 1.1 rear. Which with 18's is nice, but these streets are killing me. Where did you get your Kleeman setup? I need it soooooon.

Having gone through many different setups on my CLK, I definitely advise you to save more money and get the Kleemann dampners with either Kleemann or H&R springs. The Kleemann dampners will give you a comfortable ride when you need it while really firming up around the turns.

I would only use the Kleemann dampners or Koni Adjustables. Bilstein SP shocks are too stiff on the w208 platform.

How could springs cause vibration? Only two things will, wheels that needs balancing and a worn direction dampner.

Lou,
you are absolutly right.
I am so streesed with the 19inch HRE. They look so nice, but i now tend to drive less in the city. So i think i will go your way, keep the stock shocks and just get 18 ...

Let you know what happens ...
