clk430 throttle response

One last try before taking this car to a shop..I have a engineering brain and want to fix it myself
I have been battling a p2098 code for a while and have replace O2 sensor, fuel filter ( which make a big difference in how the car runs ) MAF and even found a lose ground on the battery
Code come back.

Car seems to run OK and person I bought it from said Plugs aren't that old.

Noticed 2 things..If I rev the throttle there is a "bog" for a second..Enough to notice..Almost like not enough fuel

2nd If I spray carb cleaner looking for a vacuum leak the only place it shakes is around the injector on the passenger side?

you could have a bad injector seal.

fixed a vacuum leak

I did more testing and noticed it wasn't the injector but the intake..I checked the ten mm bolts and they all turned a 1/8 twist with not a lot of torque..Seems to run better so time will tell on the code..Strange part is this is on bank 1 and my lean code is bank 2..Dont see any vacuum leaks on side 2.
Looks like the intake is 2 parts?? Does the top part have a gasket? Wondering if i should pull it and replace the gasket?

For now if i can get an emission sticker i will be happy.

Thanks for your help

It is two pieces but it is not sealed with a gasket. I've read of people having a very hard time resealing them.

Going to wave the white towel and let a shop look at it..The p2098 code keeps coming back and one day the car runs great and the next day feels like it has no power..My next guess is fuel pump so will let them look.. Its a European shop and does a lot of work on Mercedes so their tester might show more then my $35 one

My nature is to fix my own cars but this 2002 CLK has kicked my butt Nice convertible but I miss my 97 Civic.

Question status?

so what was the end result? What did the shop find wrong with it?

I haven't fixed it yet..Ordered 16 spark plugs but a few weeks ago was driving home at 12:15am after working late and a 8 point buck decided to head butt me..Very scary because I was alert and on a wide and well lite road and never saw him..Just felt like somebody threw a kitchen table at my car..
Deer didn't survice and crushed the drivers side fender ( tire probably took a lot of the hit and saved the body ) hood and grill.
When I get it back I will try changing the spark plugs and see if that helps I did read one post that a p2098 is a lean code but is saying the mixture could be rich and car is trying to lean it down and can't? If thats true a plug could be bad. Was told they had been swapped but old owner gave me all the receipts and I couldn't find them being swapped.

Did you at least get to keep the deer? I'd have saved those antlers at the very least, but probably would've grabbed a few hundred lbs of venison while I was at it! The neighbor of a friend of mine hit a mule deer with a Lexus SUV a few years ago, it is astonishing how much damage a deer can do, especially a good sized buck! We salvaged a LOT of venison from that episode, but the Lexus needed a body shop.
