the using the end of the metal key, you'll push the plastic (mines a gray color also) from the open side of the smart key housing towards the opposite 'closed' side.
Catch the black plastic housing with your nail (where the groove is on the bottom) while pushing in the internal release button and the battery holder will pull out from the smart key.
Be careful to install the new batter the correct way (polarity wise) so you don't ruin the smart key electronics. When re-inserting the battery carrier, do it carefully (don't force it - don't need to) make sure you are lining everything up so you don't wreck the little circuit board or any electric contacts.
I'd recommend doing this with the car unlocked.
In case it doesn't recognize the RF code, just plug it into the cars ignition switch and they will recognize one another again.
You probably won't have to do this, as there's a capacitor in the key circuit that will retain memory for a short while for changing out the battery.
