Remote Key -- battery

Mine's not dead yet , but once in awhile it does not seem to work right away, I have looked at it and can't figure out how to change the battery, and do you have to go to the stealership to get a battery and does it have to be reprogramed after a battery change?

Here's a link to where you can get Genuine Key Batteries for the DIY....according to the picture in the catalog, you get two batteries for that price.

http://www.performanceproducts.com/P...tnumber=99-425

p.s. Check out their Clearance Section....several wheels at decent discount

it's easy`

push the gray button to release the metal 'emergency' key and remove it.

the using the end of the metal key, you'll push the plastic (mines a gray color also) from the open side of the smart key housing towards the opposite 'closed' side.

Catch the black plastic housing with your nail (where the groove is on the bottom) while pushing in the internal release button and the battery holder will pull out from the smart key.

Be careful to install the new batter the correct way (polarity wise) so you don't ruin the smart key electronics. When re-inserting the battery carrier, do it carefully (don't force it - don't need to) make sure you are lining everything up so you don't wreck the little circuit board or any electric contacts.

I'd recommend doing this with the car unlocked.

In case it doesn't recognize the RF code, just plug it into the cars ignition switch and they will recognize one another again.

You probably won't have to do this, as there's a capacitor in the key circuit that will retain memory for a short while for changing out the battery.

In regards to the battery, You don't have to go anywhere other than your local Wal-Mart, or drug store. The battery is a size CR2025. Just go to there they keep all the hearing aid, camera and watch batteries and pick you TWO up. Don't do like I did and buy one, drive home and realize it took two.

Hope that helps you out bro!
