Whats the difference between putting a fake badge on your car, and the guy that's got an 18 second civic that is decked out to look like a race car with no engine mods? No matter what coast you're on, to me that's posing, they're both are trying to be something their not. Just my $.02, not trying to be offensive...

Respectfully, I have to disagree.
If the car manufacturer starts it by putting AMG on all four wheels of the vehicle like Mercedes has done on the CLK 430's, I find it hard to be crtical of the owner for adding it to the trunk.
On the other hand if he/she put on an AMG engine cover on it and told folks it was an AMG engine, then that would be posing. In this incident he/she put CLK 55 on it so that too could be viewed as posing just because of the 55, but not because of the AMG. Either way, posing or not, it should be viewed as a compliment to the 55's.
It's his/her vehicle and I'm sure they are proud of it regardless of what others may think. Therefore I think it's always best to look at the positives and not be critical of something that could mean a great deal to someone else. Just with the person who said they were gay. That's certainly not for me, but that's their right so if they are okay with it, regardless of the popular opinions, I'm not going to be critical.
In summary, live and let live so long as it doesn't harm you and it makes them happy.
Not meant to be a lecture--just my opinion.

Thank you JD, and yes I do consider it a compliment to the 55. When I bought the car, it had the AMG bumper, skirts, wheels, and even the AMG badge on the back. It did say 430, so the only thing I changed was the 430 to 55.

Of course I would NEVER change the engine cover to an AMG. I like the look, and yes, to me, it's just a way to make your car look as nice as possible.
Is it posing? I suppose in a way, it is, as I drive, to most people, it looks like a 55. In another way, it's not, as, if asked, I will always tell people it is a 430 with mods made to it. As mentioned before, I never race either, so not to embarass Mercedes or Mercedes owners in case I might lose to someone that has a faster car than myself.
Since you never know what others have under their hoods, and I'm not 18 anymore :-), I figured that would be the safest bet.

As JD said, please see this as a compliment to 55's, not anything else. Always look at the positive side of life. Glass half full.

yeah, I guess you're right. I think I'll buy an AMG kit, AMG wheels and put the 55 AMG badge on my 320, that would look hot. Or better yet, put a CL badge on there and slap some V12 badges on the side as well, tight!

Exactly. Who cares. The guy or gal has a sharp car and the majority of the world only dreams of having a car like that. Let him be proud of it, enjoy it and leave him/her the heck alone. If someone wants to pay for his/her car then they can tell them what the heck to put on it or not. Besides, as I said before, Mercedes seen fit to put it on each of the wheels so what's the big deal about the trunk. I can somewhat see what some are saying about putting the 55 there but still it's his car so who am I to judge so long as he/she is happy.
Some folks obviously are unhappy in their own lives and want to ATTEMPT to ake others miserable as well.

Dude i so want that kit what did it cost. and where exactly did you get it thanks.

I have a question when you go in for service at the dealership or what ever dos he say anything. I’m just wondering if your allowed to do that since the only major difference between the 430 and the 55 is the exhaust and wheels. And the service guy will think it is a 55 and maybe not do the right thing since the engine and programming is different.

I’m just wondering if your allowed to do that from a service and warranty standpoint.

One more thing if you were to get pulled over by a cop and he looks at your papers it will say 430 and the cop will be like this car is a 55.

Just wondering

P.s Love the front bumper and nav.

A little too touchy feely for me... Must be the Kerry Edwards thing... If the badge said 430 AMG, that would be 100% better. Call me crazy, but all I was trying to say is its not cool to badge your car as a completely different model.

Wow, so many questions.
First, I got the bumper and spoiler from www.oberklasse.com. Charles was the guy that helped me over there, and they were great!

As far as the dealership, I bought it from them, so they know it's a 430. Also, It doesn't have the AMG engine cover which is a dead giveway.

Finally, I did get pulled over once already, and I guess they just checked the Mercedes CLK and stopped at that. They didn't give me any problems about it, though they could if they wanted to. I guess they were more worried about giving me a speeding ticket and making sure my handgun permit was valid, and checking my gun :-)

Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it :-)

Aren't you a shame driving around in a Clk 430 with Clk 55 AMG badge? If you gonna try to fool people, at least put AMG exhaust and 55 wheel on. Btw, the bumper look nice but it look cheap without the bottom bumper cover.

Nope, not ashamed at all. I think that subject has been covered enough in this thread and previous threads. To each his own:-)
By the way, those are AMG wheels. I'm looking into the exhaust.

Question, what do you mean by bumper cover?

My bumper does have a mesh grill. Because of the sun, the angle, and the fact that it's painted black, you can't really see it, but it is there! :-)

I guess that is what Clk&Slk meant by bottom bumper cover.

Hot-Clk, call performance products and order the grille by phone, I got mine from them, also ask them to send you their Mercedes-Benz catalog, which is full of goodies.

You right right, everyone are difference. As for AMG wheel, you have the non hi-performance AMG wheel on. The real Clk 55 AMG wheel is an 18" monoblock with difference style then your. If you have the bottom bumper cover, you won't be able to see the ground through the mess grill. It look kindna cheap that you can see the ground through the mess grill.
