Squeaky brake on my 01'CLK55

Squeaky brake on my 01'CLK55
For the past week I have been hearing occasional squeak during braking, but I am not sure is the front or the back brake. The car has 23000 miles and I don't have any brake warning in the dash display. I do mostly highway driving and very light local traffic. What is the proper way to inspect brake myself before I bring it to the dealer? Should I use the OEM pads or the aftermarket pads? Many thanks in advance.

Mine squeaks hot and cold. I need to make sure the brake is OK because I am taking the CLK to Akron, OH to attend a golf tournament, and I don't want to get stuck out there.

They have slotted/cross drilled rotors for the CLK on ebay (NOT AMG). Best you can do up front is go with a C32 upgrade (Cross drilled and bigger rotors). I assume when he says change the rotors, its because they are glazed over and this could cause squeaking. I'm not saying thats the problem, I think it has to do with pads. Do you feel like your brakes don't grip as well as they used to (sign of glazed rotors)?

The brakes function just as well as before. I am sure my brake pads are due for replacement in the near future since I already clocked 23000 miles. I guess I will wait and see.
