CLK 430
115 in 55
2 weeks ago on a friday night I decided to take the CLK430 out for a drive and stretch her legs. I just moved to the chicago area so i figured later at night would be an ideal time because there aren't very many people on the road...etc. I don't know if any are familiar with the Chicago area but i was in 3rg gear (close to red line so around 110mph) and i was at the merge of Northbound 355 and West bound 290. I crossed the white hash marks in the middle of the road(from where the 2 highways merged) right as i do this, i see the red n blues, so i pull over. Right as i do the cop comes running up and all crazy and yells at me to get out of the car and he reaching and grabbing at me( i was thinking this is odd for a traffic stop), with my car still running i make way to exit the vehicle. the cop yells "This is my favorite part of the job, you are under arrest!!" he puts me in cuffs and leans me up against my trunk. He told me that i was doing 115 , he totally though i was drunk or something, when he realized i wasn't he didn't even bother with the field test, so now here I am a 25 year old, wit 9 earrings, wallet chain, skater shoes and backwards hat, driving a mercedes at 2am. So after searching me, he decides to throw me in the back of his car and search my entire car. He laid my wallet and chain on th trunk of my car and as he picks it up he drags it accross the roof (all i can do is cringe at this point) to get my ID and paper work out. He searches my whole car to find nothing and writes me up for a 115 in a 55 and to add insult to injury (prolly because he couldn't bust me for anything) he writes me another ticket for crosssing the white hash marks(WTF). He does let me go however, so i get back into my car to put everything away and he takes off, i go to start my car and the whole car dies.. it completely loses electrical power.
I call MB roadside assistance and they were of no help, I called the state police and told them their officer just f'ed up my car, so 2 hours later i wrestle the trunk lock( trying not to break the key off, i got a new key wasn't sure because the lock wasn't too easy to use) I jiggled the battery cable and got power back, i got the car started as soon as i do this, it lights up like a christmas tree, with BAS, ABS and ESP warnings as well as the windows not rolling up from the inside (they rolled up with the key chain). I limped the car home and took it to the dealer the next day, they told me the Stop Lamp switch was broken and replaced but couldn't explain the windows or the battery thing..... do you guys think the cop could've messed it up(purposefully or not) while he was searching my trunk(i noticed he broke the cover door to my disc changer later). what pisses me off most is that he was right there and left, and then was no where to be found when i called the state back to get assistance...
anyway i hired a laweyer for 375 and got off with paying a 200 fine, my courtdate was yesterday. I guess its a lot better the misdemeanor i was facing... but damn those state troopers.....

Well I believe when you disconnect the battery it resets all your settings. The BAS and ESP lights come on and the way you reset that is to hold the brake, turn the wheel all the way to the right, then left, and back to the center and it should go away. For your windows, are you talking about the one touch up feature? You also have to reprogram this by pulling your windows up and holding the up button for a couple seconds. Sucks you got that ticket and the cop was an ***. I've been in your situation before and I know it sucks. I once got pulled over in my 300E and was falsely arrested (I wasn't speeding or anything, they claimed I didnt have a license but I even showed it to them). That night sucked cuz I got locked up for a couple hours over NOTHING!

115 in a 55 is pretty bad... you know, if you get caught and stuff...
Around here they'll consider that reckless and haul you off to jail. At 2:00AM, you're looking at staying downtown overnight... at least.
Your lawyer did a pretty good job, it seems... but it could be that the rules are different in The Second City (*grin*). I just got a ticket for 88 in a 55 (stupid LIDAR) the other day, and that was $275.
At least CT is a no-point state...

I guess the moral of the story is if you don't want to get your car messed up, drive at or near the speed limit. Whichever one is safe and reasonable.

Northbound 355 and West bound 290 is not a place to be doing 115 anytime of the day. There is ISP all over up there, so be careful. Sucks that your car got messed up. If you want to haul a$$ on the roadways, which I do not promote BTW just head out on westbound 88 toward DeKalb. There are not many ISP out that way.

The guy at the Benz dealer told me about IL Route 2 which is west of Route 72 west of Schaumburg. ever heard of it? its supposed to follow some river.
I'm pretty sure the cop did mess up, but the car is under warranty and all, i figure if i don't mess with them they won't mess with me, besides i don't have the time or effort to try and take action against the cop who searched me and my car without any probable cause. It just sucks

California Vehicle Code section 22348 (b) states:
"Any person who drives a vehicle upon a highway at a speed
greater than 100 miles per hour is guilty of an infraction
punishable, as follows:"
