If it has a rain sensor installed then it does.

It was part of K3 package on coupes - sunroof, rain sensor, rear window power sunshade.

on the cabrio, it was K4 pkg bundled with xenon, heated seats & rain sensor

It wasn't 'standard'; the car would have the option package to include it.

Look at the windshield from the outside of the car, there should be a square sensor approximately 2" x 2" that is bluish in color in front of the interior rear view mirror. If it is there try turning on the wipers to the first notch they should wipe once and then stop, spray a little water on this area of the windshield and the wipers will start again if you have this option.
I had this option on my '98 CLK 320 and the windshield was replaced without the sensor so it would not work, to my delight MB changed out the windshield at no cost!
Regards,
Ed

PS You can also go to Mercedes Benz web page and look up your model and option packs, here is the link:

At the end of the day the sensor clips into any car that has the windscreen holder for it. "Avantgarde" is notorious for not having the right windscreen if it isnt ordered factory. I installed one in my car - took 3 minutes.
