Question ASR v ESP any tremendous difference?

Im looking for a clk, but do not know whether it is ok to buy a 98 because there is no ESP available. It is also looking difficult to find a 99 with the ESP option in the color i want, etc. Does anyone here have positive or negative experience with both? I have a friend who has an e320 (last body style) w/o ESP (has ASR) and he hydroplaned into a highway median (grass thankfully), so im a bit spooked. Any input would be tremendously helpful. Thanks.

CLK320
dont touch the clk without ESP. I can't tell you how many times its stopped me from dying. Also helps the car alot in snow.

It may be an error on the website. Look under the Major Options for the 1998 CLK320. It's listed on the K4 Package along with Xenon headlights.

E550 Coupe
yea def wasnt standard. you're not seeing it on most cars because hardly anyone wanted to pay for that option. i guess it also depends on where you live and the weather there. my car doesnt have ESP but im in florida, my tires are really grippy, and i don't do anything too crazy to need it. but then again, i guess i can make this statement until some freak accident happens...
