I've had some crazy squeeking noises for the past 6 months in my 99 430 and it sounded like the front suspension was the problem. The strange thing was that it would only start the make the noise when it was warmed up after 15 minutes or so of driving. Came back from the dealership and they found out that the catalyst in the main catlytic converter had broken loose inside and was causing the noise. Luckily Mercedes has a 7 yr/70K mile warranty on the exhaust system. If you've been hearing a periodic squeeking noise, this could be the problem.

the exhaust is covered under the emissions warranty, and that part is usually longer than the other standard vehicle warranty
