Gasket for the small cover on the left valve cover

The left hand valve cover has a second cover that incorporates the oil filler neck and attachments for two breather tubes. The gasket is leaking; leaking enough that I occasionally get a whiff of oil vaporizing on the exhaust manifold. I've checked Mercedes parts sellers on line and can't find a listing for the gasket for that application. Does anyone know if that gasket is available and if so, what is the part number.

If it's not available I guess my alternative is to make one out of thick gasket paper or use one of the commercial gasket makers out of a tube.

Thanks. All help and responses greatly appreciated.

Never mind. After doing additional research it's apparent that gasket is not available, if it ever was. At least it doesn't show up in the parts listings of the on-line Mercedes parts sellers. I removed the cover, cleaned everything up and used a gasket maker out of a tube.

Hello @jinark ,
The solution you came up with is correct; the MB gasket sealant part number I believe is A003989982010. Essentially, it is a Loctite 5970 liquid sealant.
Mine too has a leak and I am planning to sort it out once the weather improves; do you have any tips or suggestions to complete the process?
Al

I didn't use the Mercedes product. I used Permatex Black Ultra Gasket Maker which has always worked for me in the past on other cars. The only advice I can give is to remove all the old sealant and completely clean the mating surfaces of all oil and residue. Also, the plastic breather tubes that need to be removed become brittle with age and may crack. They are not expensive from non-MB sources and may very well need replacement.

Rtv silicon gasket sealant, clean all old sealant from grooved channels and fastening locations, clean again. Apply even bead in grooves and around fastening holes of cover, it needs to sit a couple of mm out of the groove to fill the channel on the rocker cover. Locate cover and fasteners but don't apply any pressure with fasteners. Tighten by finger till just touching alloy cover. Let sealant cure for approx 1hr then nip up fasteners but being only fine m5 thread you can easily strip so only 1/4 to 1/2 turn. They will require resealing every 5 to 10 years. Hope this helps.

Thank you @jinark and @LateLife Crisis for both of your insights.
Would either of you know the part numbers for the plastic breather tubes?

Which hoses? What LateLife Crisis posted. The hoses that are most likely to need to be replaced are the two that actually attach to the metal breather covers since those are most subject to engine heat. At least that was my experience.

Thank you for taking the time @LateLife Crisis . With those part numbers I should be able to source the same in the UK.

That's good to know @jinark .
I have had a quick look today and I can see the hoses are quite rigid, so I will definitely be changing them when I tackle the gasket repair.
