Foglight replacement bulbs.

![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
....I have finally decided to replace my foglight bulbs with something that better matches my xenons. After searching thru past posts about what bulb is actually used....I went to the car, pulled them and YES...the manual and all application lists are wrong, they are H3 and NOT H1.
Question....Most people sell 100 watt bulbs and what are recommended are 55 watt...what consequences if any are there in putting in the 100 Watters. Also...is there a brand people think are best.
thanks...

Fog Light Brand HID maybe
Humm....seems u are like me.........wanted to change all the lights that doesn't match the Xenon lights..i have my H3 Xenon on ordered.....2 months now...and so do my muffler.......*sign*..but tell u what...chage your fog lights into Xenon and it will look very very very nice i have seen on CLK in Vancouver has it's fog light changed into Xenon...looks awsome..... : ) i do not recommand you buy Philips H3 Xenon since it's way too expesive for the fog lights. I have ordered Vision HID H3 for my CLK and the price is much lower than the Philips..i heard K2 is also a good brand for HID and Xenon. : )

it depends on how much $$$ you want to spend. i believe what you are referring to are "HID" looking bulbs. these are just coated with paint to only allow a certain frequency of light pass through, which gives a blueish hue. i personally have PIAA super plasma blue. the bulbs you a re referring to are 55 watt bulbs that perform as a 100 watt bulb. true hids use less power that standard halogen bulbs. i've here that the phillips blue vision bulbs actually are better than the piaas, but i dont know anybody local that actually has them on their car.
hope this helps.

2002 CLK-430 Brilliant silver/ash
![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Maybe you guys can help me out. For the fog lights are we just talking a bulb replacement or whole unit? Also how much are we talking for the PIAAs each?
I don't have the Xenon headlights. bought a '02 430 demo with 600 miles and no Xenons. Do I have any options to brighten up my lights without spending a fortune? My stereo installer says that my bulbs for the headlights are H7 and none of the aftermarket companies has figured out a way to manufacture ones that don't burn out.
You help would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Hid stage II
...I agree with Van....there are plenty of HID kits around for H7 Bulbs....I might not shell out the money for true xenon fogs but for low beams...definately. As a matter of fact I am thinking about going to the HID II's. Hid4less told me that anything above 6000K starts getting pink in color and just plain silly looking. But then again, that is what they sell. I have seen 7000K and 8000K H7 units on Ebay for around $299 to $399.

....humm according to stage II and III Xenon lights they are not all time 6000K and 8000K or even 10000K the colour temp. of the Xenon will closely match to 10000K or 8000K or even 6000K but if you want the looks of 6000K and rather spend 300-400$ to upgrade i recommand you to buy a blue plastic like coverstion cover to cover over the Xenon bulb , the colour temp willl be the same as 6000K.
P.S What do i mean for not ALL TIME 6000K or above?
Well the max light bult out put has already put to 35Watts which it will not be change the onthing the change is the colour of the bulbs. I guess the $299/$399 6000K or 8000K is only meant by the Colour Temp not the REAL PHILIPS STAGE II XENON 6000K : )

Well the max light output has been set to 35Watts which it will not be change the only thing they change is the colour of the bulbs just like what u see with the PIAA RAZO(coloured lens). I guess the $299/$399 6000K or 8000K on EBAY is only meant by the Colour Temp not the REAL PHILIPS STAGE II XENON TURE 6000K since the whole system is different.

Hey there,
I have a 2002 CLK as well. Wondering if you can help.
My passenger side OEM Xenon light is not working. Any ideas as to how to diagnose the problem? I read that it may be the igniter. Anyone else have this problem? My warranty is over as of April 06.

CLK 430 Coupe
Well I have 30,000k color temp aftermarket H.I.D. bulbs installed in the OEM Xenon Housing and I get nothing but compliments. It's all a personal preference.
I was told that this "color" ( purple white) while beautiful, rare, and exotic, is illegal here in texas. Check your local laws.![Cheers](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/cheers.gif)
Remember the higher color temp you get the less lumens they will produce...
More color = less light on the road. You have to balance looks for performance or vice versa. I believe that the best lumen producing color is actually like 3,000k which is yellow ( think foglights on is300).
