Well, im about to trade my car in for a CLK320, but I want a cabrio. I was wondering if the CLK320 came in a cabrio in 1998, or did it start in 99?

Thanks alot....Also, is there any diff besides the wheels from the 98 clk320, and the 01 clk320

No convertible til '99. The rims are alot nicer on the 2000's and up.

Thanks for the information. What about the ground effects, are they the same from 99 to 01? I dont realy care about the wheels, cause im putting 20's on it

Thanks for your kind remarks In my option, 20's will look good to me....The post of the topic is asking about, if the ground effects changed from 99-01...Lets get back on that subject, and not express options right now.

I agree that 20's would look awesome, but read other posts saying why they wont work. There are several modificatons alone to be done for them to fit i believe, so why not get 18's or 19's and save yourself some trouble, also salvage the ride quality. I have a 55 with 19's and it looks sweet, so take your 320 put some 19's on it and lower it, that is just my opinion. Just something else to consider.

There really aren't any ground effects but I believe that that black strip on the bottom of the '98 320's is gone as is color coded in '99- but it may be '00. Grounds effects have only been added recently to the 320's (as an option)- I believe since '01. Hope that helps.

its nto an option on 320 they come standart

also the inside computer is different

also you cant put 20" rims on the clk 19" only

unless u start shaving the fenders etc

go with 19 drop em and ride will come out tight

also if got the $ get lorinser DTM spoilers and then u definatelly be pimping

ps dont forget the tv's in the car

sungulent: LOL, TVs are a mod i wanna do for the back seats. A friend of mine has the new jag with that in, and it looks very nice. All I wanna do is, tv, system, and wheels.

here is my ml with matching wood trim around the tvs they really match the wood of your car let me know if u r interested in getting those they r 5.6 inches and very reasonble in price

Ok so i know what im about to say imight be biased but i had to put my 2 cents. Now i know that stock rims on CLK 320's arent the nicest, but personally i think 2k+ stock rims are uglier than than pre 2k....Pre 2k almost look chrome when there clean and spinning. just my two cents, but my advice would be to def get the 2000.

What was the point of you telling me this? relax? I never even said anything bad to the guy, and i just asked to get back onto the topic. See, you not liking 20's is YOUR option....And everyone has there OWN option. When I post a topic, feel free to post your option, but post it in a better manner...maybe as in..

."I dont really like the 20's on the CLK, cause of whatever....But that was just my option, but whatever you do, i wish you best of luck"

I dident EVEN know that you couldent put 20's on without doing alot of mods to the car. I learned that from ERICCLK55. Did you see how his post was? Maybe you should learn how to express what you think like his.

Of course I am biased having a 99 but I like the mirrors without the signal. It seems smoother to me.

you guys constantly forget the substantial differences between the 99's and 2000 up cars. The differences are not trivial...
In addition to the much improved body work in 2000, you also get the information center in the instrument cluster with steering wheel controls(and the capability for COMAND), SOS warning system, 16" wheels on the 320 instead of the awful 15's on the 99, the newer style keys/remotes, turn signals in the mirrors instaed of cheesy side markers, but more importantly, the 2000 up models also have prepaid service during the warranty period. These substantial differences, in all models, are the reasons why 99's are getting hit so hard in the resale market. The typical payment shopper will pay the premium for these features, especially once he realizes the 99's don't have them. Hope this helps, allen.
