Software--anyone?

Since I'm gonna hang a little longer with the CLK, wanted to help her a bit more. Anyone used any software/intake upgrades on 430? I'm leaning towards Renntech for the warranty issues, and the fact that on my other Benzes, it's been the only one that really did anything. Anyone have some experience here? Thanks...

Renntech box is simply a c/f covered AMG piece. If you really like c/f and don't mind paying for it, get it, otherwise, stick with the CLK55 intake.

Josh,
I've thinking about getting the CLK 55 intake but I've heard mixed results. A Mercedes tech told me that I could expect around 3-4 HP but I think I remember you doing dyno testing and getting 10 RWHP with the CLK 55 airbox and K&N filters. Please clarify this confusion for me before I waste my money. Thanks!

Uh, I'm talking about software upgrades...

Yes, I know that the C/F box is recommended by RT with the software. I'm wondering about the real world gains of the RT software. BTW, there is a Renntech CF box for sale on Ebay, but the guy wants $900 for it. Nice csometic upgrade, but not with a new one at $1195. Has anyone actually used their software on a 430 motor?

haters crazy
Is a new one really $1195 now? They used to be 1500. Anyways, I disagree about the intake being the same as clk55. It does share the same filters and same pipes but the actual box is more curved and doesnt have those perpendicular lines inside the box which I think makes the air flow smoother (lets the engine "breathe" better). Anyways, Josh have you had any problems with your MAF due to the K&N? I need to replace my air filters but have heard bad things about aftermarket air filters.

I don't know about the Renntech chip, but Powerchip gets you 24 HP for $840, or you can try www.speedtuningusa.com which claims 21 HP for $299

I have the AMG intake, and honestly, I did not feel a difference from stock.

This is my only mod, and I just dyno-ed 201HP/214TQ. Not sure what the improvement is, but those are my numbers.

I wish I hadn't mentioned....

the word intake in this post. I don't really expect any difference from one, except maybe a little nicer intake noise. And that carbon box looks cool.
What I really want to know is, has anyone here really used and experienced any gains from performance software? Again, my experience has been mostly with Renntech. Although it's expensive, on all my other cars it has really made a difference. But I have not used or tried it on this motor. Was hoping someone had?
