It's Totaled. Time to move on.

So i found out from the body shop and claims adjuster today that the damage was too significant to fix. As long as i've read/posted on this forum, i never put a single picture up. If someone wants to host some pics for me, let me know your email. I'd appreciate it. Also, i'll post some pics of the damage cause its pretty greusome, but that'll require developing and scanning.

So invariably, my next question is: what next? I'm thinking modded clk or e36 m3. Anyone got suggestions. 25-30K range

Hey man, very sorry to hear about your accident. I would be extremely upset if it had happened to me...here's something you may not have thought about that would also be good for a 25-30k range. Before i was into mercedes i was into audi. A lot of guys do 1.8t stuff but i've never been much for small engines w/ turbos...i prefer bigger engines with turbos. You can get a good 2001 B5 S4 for low twenties and a Stage 3 AWE tuning kit for $7,320...that puts you around your target price range with 440 hp, 425 ft lbs. of torque, and 0-60 in 3.9 seconds...plus all wheel drive. And thats not the end of the line, an S4 can run 11s easily and get well north of 600 hp. You will loose the sleek coupe look of the CLK, but in my opinon it looks a TON better than an e36 M3, especially if you get a Reiger RS4 front and RS4 wheels.

Thanks for the suggestions. I might be interested in an s4 if it had a kit on it.... IMO it looks a little generic as is.
To all people asking about my BRABUS parts, im sorry to tell you that the insurance wont let me take anything off. They are considering it a "Brabus Package" car which should mean a better insurance check for me, but unfortunately the inability to part it out. Im still waiting for word on weather i can take off the roof spoiler and amp if anyone is interested.

All the mechanics at my shop can't tell people enough how much Audi/VW's are pieces of ****, don't downgrade from a Mercedes Benz.

600hp for s4 may be too optimistic.... without spending the same price in mod as what you bought the car for..

Not necessarily... The Stage 3 kit puts you pretty high up there at 440, and if you wanted to use nitrous or upgrad the air tubing for higher volume on it you could get a fairly large amount of power for not TOO much...Also, the Stage 3 kit isnt the only one out there, a few companies have made prototype turbos larger than the K04s that are extremely powerful. The bottom line is that turbocharged engines are extremely easy to modify. I do agree that it looks a bit generic, but you can make them look fairly attractive with a rieger bumper and rs4 wheels.

Thoughts on your replacing the Benz, I have looked at a few alternatives to the CLK Cabriolet I have. Although I want to keep it and pay it off I have driven the new C-6 Corvette. This is an awesome automobile, acceleration is unbelievable and it goes exactly where you tell it to go. The interior is now included unlike before where you got tubberwear to go.

I also am looking at the TL from Acura, I had a couple of their cars before and had absolutely no problems with the car. That one thing is making me look in their direction, now that they have redesigned the car it looks much better.

My friends and I are tired of being “bent over” by Mercedes, they are wonderfull cars BUT! Mercedes seems to have a “not to care” attitude now. When a customer complains and they do nothing about it.

Maybe I'll sell the Benz and just drive the truck<G>

Regards,
Ed
