Above the head unit is the center channel speaker for the DTS 5.1 surround.

How big is your monitor? It doesn't look that big. When my monitor flips out, it covers the entire upper deck to the top of the AC controls. Mine is a 7" wide screen. Is that 6"? 6.5" Just curious. Thanks.

This is a 6.5" monitor. It was moved down from the factory stereo location so that it does not interfere with the AC controls. The center channel speaker is mounted where the stock stereo usually is located.

And yes, it has a DVD NAV system is built in also.

LorinserCLK, this is how mine looks. It's a Pioneer 7" wide screen. It was also moved to the second slot underneath the factory radio slot but the screen is so large that it covers up the radio slot AND the AC controls.

I guess the pioneer head unit sits higher than the kenwood. As far as how much everything cost, I am almost afraid to add it up but here it goes...

Kenwood Head Unit 2000
Kenwood DSP\EQ 400
Kenwood DVD NAV 2000
Kenwood CD Changer 300
Kenwood MP3 Keg 800
2 JL Audio Amps 1200
JL Audio Subs 400
MB Quart Speakers Front\Rear 1000
Installation approx 1500

Total around 9600

Very nice interior. The exterior is kind of the opposite of mine, and therefore doesn't do it for me, but hey- just my opinion .

BTW- thanks for listing the prices of your system components- very informative.

................I am familiar with the system. It is a Kenwood AM/FM/CD/DVD player pull out screen. The DVD unit is a separtate unit that is purchased separately and installsa in your trunk and can ber integrated with the unit on the dash. It is one of the better systems around, but it should not have cost him $9,600. The dash unit sells for $3500-$4000 and the DVD unit sells for S1000. Installation is usually less than $300. The one one I have been involved in installing in a benz involves moving the temperature controls down to whgere the OEM radio is and placing the Kenwood unit where the temperature controls are so that you don't have to look down to see the screen, the way you do for the MB command unit. Also, this set prevents the Kenwood screen from obscurring the temperature controls. The down side to the Kenwood, if you care, is that the screen can automatically pull out by the push of a button, but unlike Alpine, it does not pull out and flip up as well. This doesn't really matter, but it kind of aflooses points on the "coolness" factor. Of course you also cannot use your steering wheel controls.

does it matter if the center channel is blocked when the screen is out? I would think you use your center channel when playing a DVD movie and, of course, you would need to have the screen out. Just wondering.

very nice btw.

There is enough of a gap between the screen and the speaker that you hear it fine when the screen is up.

As far as paying too much, there was a lot of custom work done in the install. They had to build a custom bandpass enclosure and port it through the armrest. There is also an amp rack on the front of the box so when you fold the seats down you see the amps and all the wiring. In order to have enough power, I had to upgrade the battery and add a stiffining cap.

I don't have any pictures of the amps yet, but here is a picture of the trunk. Can't see much here but a much smaller trunk because I wanted everything to be concealed.
