Interior Color
This is a link to a whole bunch of pictures...the one I am wondering about is the 3rd one from the left, top row. What is that interior called and is it available in the US??? I really like that color. Thanks

Wow.. you really like that color? I guess there's different strokes for different folks, but from what I've heard, the lighter-colored CLK500 interior looks very "plasticky". Something to think about.

thanks a lot everyone. that color matrix is very handy :P yeah i like the creme/brown wood combo, although i'm not sure if that wood is available on the 500 w/o a special order charge. so you say the light colors look plasticky? that is something i will definately have to consider. the reason i was looking at the "stone" color was that all my current cars have either light grey or dark interiors and i thought i would try and switch things up a bit i'm heading up to NJ in July so i think i'll stop by the MB headquarters and see a few in person. i guess that is the best way to decide.

Everything I've read and seen indicates that the wood trim is standard equipment on the CLK500, while the two-tone interior, optional at extra cost, has textured aluminium trim.
Below is a quote from the Edmunds review of the CLK500:
While the CLK500's leather is as sumptuous as ever and the wood trim suitably glossy, the plastic trim doesn't look, or feel, worthy of a premium Mercedes. It's especially noticeable in the light beige tone we tested and most prevalent above the side airbags on the doors.

I hope this is helpful.

I may switch to black/ash instead of black/stone if stone looks that plasticky. I"m heading up to NJ next week so I'm definately going to look at interiors...i believe the new SL offers stone so hopefully a dealer there has one in the showroom. my LS has a light grey or what MB would call Ash so i was thinking about something different...but whatever looks best i guess thanks again
btw. any opinions on ash in MB cars?

In the other thread someone said that the CLK they saw in stone was dirty...now that i think about it, stone will get very dirty very easily. ash is getting much more appealing. yeah i realize the SL is much more refined, hopefully MB headquarters or that dealer on rte. 9 has some CLKs so i can see for myself

i am not so sure about the 2 tone seats. I think that will make the car more of a sporty car when it isn't. It's more of luxury cruiser and soft one tone leather would be best for it.

I think the term "luxury cruiser" describes the CLK very well. Compared to an M3 or an M5, its much more of a "cruiser". However, it's a coupe with a 5-liter, V8 302hp engine - so I'd say it definitely qualifies for the 'sporty' aluminum and 2-tone interior look.
