Question US Spec CLK500 Interior trim - wood?

Can anyone who has seen an CLK500 in person confirm what the interior trim material is?

The US website (mbusa.com) shows wood (burl walnut) for the CLK320 and aluminum for the CLK500.

Aluminum is a deal breaker in my book...

Wood Trim

I'm not sure if this is still the case, but in the past for a $1,000 fee, you could specify in your build order to put in wood instead of aluminum. In Europe there are many different options. MBUSA simplifies things for us. For example, in the U.S., the CLK 55 and 430 got the Avant Garde (sport) package. This, among other things, meant getting black birdseye maple trim. The CLK 320 got the Elegance (luxury) package with burl walnut. However, one type of wood could be substituted for another for the $1,000 fee. The assumption being that the particular wood you want is already used in that body style.

My salesman said the 500 will be standard with burl walnut, but for approx. $1150 it can be "upgraded" to aluminum trim and two-tone leather seats.

The CLK500's and CLK320's at the MB Headquarters in Montvale have burl wood trims, I didn't see any with aluminum trim.....

Alum. will be an option. But i think if you don't get the 2tone trim seats then you are better off with the wood since it will give it a more luxury look. I persoanlly think i am going to opt for the wood.
thanks!

Solid-colored leather seats and wood are standard on both the 320 and the 500. For a $1150 option, you can get 2-tone seats ("Anthracite" [close to black] with either dark gray, blue, or red) and the brushed aluminum w/chrome trim. I've only seen the wood in person, but I reserved the 2-tone seats w/aluminum because its sportier, looks dope w/the COMMAND system, and I've heard its incredible in person.

Once I get my car, I'm gonna take tons of pictures from all angles, inside and out, and post them. Below is a picture I found from GermanCarFans that shows exactly how my interior is going to look:

LiquidM5 I agree with you, that interior is unbelievably good looking.
I would go for the 2-tone seats, but here in Australia the aluminium comes standard with the avantgarde (elegance with wood and 7 spoke wheels is exactly the same price) and the seats are an expensive extra so i'm sticking with the plain black seats-- but would go for 2-tone if it was an option.
I have seen the aluminium in the new c-sports coupe 200k with cloth seats and it still looks very good, so with the leather and sat nav it will be great!!

I got a call from the MB sales guy I'm dealing with about an hour ago. Among the things he told me was that the aluminium trim won't be available on any U.S. cars, even as part of the 2-tone interior option. If true, this is very disappointing. I had my heart set on the same color combo as you: brilliant silver with anthracite/dark ash leather and aluminium trim. He did say that he thinks there will be a choice of burl walnut or black birdseye maple trim.

This would be most dissapointing for US customers if the aluminium was not an option!

i'm gonna make a wild assumption!!

i think that for the US market, the CLK500 will coem in avantgarde only. Basically ALUMINIUM TRIM INTERIOR!!!

Probably AMG package as standard too!

From tons of material I read
North America is the key Market to W209, aimed at age 50+
So, what's the maker should do ?
(1) Keep the wooden trim as Avantgarde (else in the world is
Al-Carbon trim for Avantegarde)
Classic & stlyish is the taste for aged people.
(2) Free option (Al-Carbon) for kids love fancy interior.
I believe this kind of arrangement.

50+ what???? So are we going to be driving around granny-mobile??? That is so embrassing. The target group should be more like the 25-40...
