Initial Quality or Build Problems With New AMG CLE 53 Coupes and Cabriolets

Being a new model car, there will likely be quality or build problems (hopefully minor) discovered by owners. Please share any issues you have along with how they were resolved. Hopefully the experiences of early owners will be helpful to all as we work with our dealers for resolutions or any issues that develop.

This is not unique to the CLE53 and is minor in the grand scheme but the 'Turbo' emblem on the sides of the cars have weak adhesive. I lightly touched them and the letter 'T' moved so I expect them to fly off while driving. I can't believe Mercedes has not fixed this problem since it has plagued other models like the C43 AMG.

I heard about that on the W206 you mentioned, is it because the "T" is seperate from "URBO"?

All the letters are separate. I have no idea why the 'T' is particular susceptible to weak adhesive.

Sounds like a bearing , axel or maybe a diffirential mechanizm . It goes to MB service on Thursday , I hope they can find an issue instead saying thats normal.

mine is currently in the shop for 4 issues, here is my list. I will circle back when i get it back from the shop.

1) MBUX - Performance screens not rendering or displaying data and the screen sometimes freezes up- the car has a recall for the mbux system update, that's taking place
2) LED stripping on drivers and passenger door developed hot spots almost immediately, quality is TEMU grade -
3) Clicking in steering / wheel, sounds like brake disc shims are hitting but i think its actually something internal to the rear axle steer
4) Strange noise also coming from rear passenger axle when idle.

Cle 53 amg
For me, I recently took delivery of a cle53 AMG in magno grey with AMG dynamic package.

Upon startup and at very low speeds when I turn my steering wheel there is a sound like two rubber pieces are rubbing together. Kinda briefly sounds like rubber tearing. Occasionally I'll get a popping sound from the silver amg trim piece on the steering wheel.

Took into the dealer and said this was normal, another car exactly like this had the same exact sound according to them. Not sure if I should try this at a different dealership.

Sounds pretty good. Given it is in EU spec, need to hear a North American one to know for sure.

I think @flatsick is talking about the metallic clicking/tinkling noise you hear towards the beginning of that video when the driver does the first launch (at about the 3 second mark). That is not a good noise at all.

Sorry to repeat what @flatsick said in the other thread.

Red face Well...

I REALLY don't like to complain. It's just that one expects a certain level of QUALITY when buying an AMG!

You folks make my problems look small and piddling, just software issues for me.

BUT, I do need to repeat what I've said in the past, Carl Benz is spinning in his grave at the way his company is being run. There is no more "The Best or Nothing at MB/AMG."

It seems to me that MB/AMG have caved to "special interests" and, they've learned that "mediocrity" in building cars saves $. All they have to do is be less mediocre than everybody else.

I am grateful that we don't have Takata airbags.

gosh, that is a weird noise. Are you sure it's not coming from the bell housing area? The resonance is really strange.

First MY woes for sure. C43 owners have been having a hard time. And it seems they haven't fixed many issues that are shared across the platforms (like the LEDs around the seat controls on the doors).

Weird I don't have that issue at all. Here is my issue (have to turn up sound up):

You can only hear it when it's completely quiet. Any sound from speakers and you can't hear it.

The brake hold function does not work for me. I made sure it wasn't me being an idiot with user error.

My 2024 CLE 53 AMG which was purchased several weeks ago and just under 1000 miles experienced 2 of the TPMS - Tire Pressure Monitoring System - completely failing and needing to be replaced. These parts were not available and needed to be shipped in to the dealer to be replaced. Should be replaced and repaired next week and hoping this isn't an ongoing issue. Other than that....this car is amazing!

You and me both! The HOLD function works 50% of the time and I have yet to figure out the rhyme or reason to how to get it to work all the time....I assumed it was user error on my part as well so glad I see I'm not alone.

I have not been able to get it work at all. This is a simple function so it shouldn't be rocket science to figure out if it worked properly. Before you start the car, is your brake pedal super stiff to push down (to start the car)? I know it will be somewhat stiff when the car is off but I've never had it this stiff on any of my previous cars. I wonder if the brake vacuum has any relation to the HOLD function not working?

It is not rocket science for sure unless it is actually malfunctioning, to activate you come to a stop and you quickly stab the brake pedal.

thats interesting, kinda faint but sounds almost like the rear tires during the rear wheel steer. Cant really tell though. Hope it gets solved soon.

Noticing software issues where my settings change randomly. I've noticed the comfort settings of the seat/steering wheel position toggles off, the closing of the side mirrors toggles off (when locking the car), the steering wheel AMG shortcuts change, and others.

I wonder if that has to do with the profile, do you have a profile setup or using guest profile?

Happens with both. I deleted my profile and noticed settings changed the next day. Same thing happened over the next few days when I created my profile again. It's one setting at a time that gets toggled off randomly.
