I use BP Ultimate (93 octane). No complaints, I'm just curious what other owners use and whether they notice better performance.

93 only no exceptions
i however made the mistake by using a full service station i said premium but their premium is 91 with ultra being 93 didnt see much of a difference except the car was moving a bit slower and i think i put it in reverse and it didnt go back on its own(wasnt on a slope so i gave it a little gas) kind of how the car feels in "C" mode but i never take my car out of "S" so it wasnt that

93? Wow! The highest grade we have in Los Angeles is 91. Consider yourselves lucky...

Joe

Here in So. CA we only have 91 octane the highest. I always fill either Chevron or Exxon. Never fill the independent Gas station so far.

All gas is the same. As long as the octane rating is either 91 for the west, or 93 which is the only thing I use in FL. I would not recommend anything less then 91.

they burn at different rates; you should keep it above 91.

Mobil Synergy 98 or Shell Optimax 98,

however I find Synergy last longer and more consistant in power output.

Do a little research before you make such naive blanket statements. All gasoline is NOT the same. A search of this forum might turn up some info I posted a many moons ago that shed more light on how gasoline is formulated.

BTW, Union76/Unocal has 100 octane available in California at selected stations. Go to their website and you can locate one nearest you. Beware, it is expensive but when you gotta have the good stuff, you've got little choice. Toluene and other chemical additives work but there are added risks and are not as simple as pulling up to a pump.

Since I've purchased my vehicle late last december, the ONLY gas I've ever filled is Shell V-Power (w/ the exception of when I was out in the boonies two weekends ago). I've heard Chevron w/ Techron is good too so I may start using that as well. I guess I'll just look at one of the old threads to see which one is best.

Kaze:

Just a little FYI, since I'm of Pakistani descent and all my people do is run gas stations... Most independent gas stations use Phillips 66 and/or Diamond Shamrock (in the south-west) depending on what they get a better deal on.. Usually Phillips 66. So really, they're still name brand and not as independent as some think they are. Just thought I'd let u know

E55AMG99:

Out of curiousity, How much is 100 octane? Fifty-Cents more than supreme/premium/whatever it's called?

CLK Cadet:

Haha, I doubt that cuz it would probably freak up the used car market. But u never know... If they can offer diff cars in diff countries, they could even offer different tuning in differeint states

100 octane only $0.50 more? No way! They stick it to you. Last time I checked when 91 was about $2.20 it was almost $4.00! It is expensive but the convenience over additives and toluene is well worth it for the occasional boost.

Damn Dude! I already get pisst off when I fill up 93 octane and it's only $2-2.50 per gallon. But I guess 100 octane is not for everyday anyways. BTW, thanks for the info.. i nvr knew 100 was available
