That's a tough one especially due to the 07 being a new model...

I would try to go below invoice. I got a new '04 55 coupe leftover for $16,000 below the invoice of $72,000

So it's a totally new design for 2007 then?

This thing is hot... but I'm annoyed. I was planning to get an `06 CLK350 in January, 06... but I'd wait until late 2006 for the next gen model...

That seems to be the case.

Who said the body was going to change in 2007? I highly doubt there won't be any change until 08. People were saying that the C Class would change in 06. The dealer told me it's gonna look the same as the 05 w/ a minor change in the bumper. If you know where a reputable site has posted that it will change in 07 please let me know. Thanks!

i also heard 08 because MB has a trend that the coupe/convertable comes out one year after sedan. Example S Class -- CL Class one year difff in body change is scheduled. for 07/08 and it was that way with the old models.

The C-Class will be redesigned 07 and Clk 08

The U.S. W208 CLK430 V8 coupe went from MY99 to MY02, the cab's went one more model year; so the thinking is the U.S. W209 CLK500 V8 coupe will go from MY2003 to MY 2006 and the cabs one year longer. I am looking forward to a change...we'll see.

You should be comparing the Chassis (W209) rather than a specific engine (430) on the car because the W209 chassis/body style has actually been out since 1998 and stayed until 2002 for the coupe and 2003 for the cab. If we go with that pattern, the new body-style coupe should come out in 08 and perhaps 09 for the convertible.

That kinda makes sense for the CL/S Classes but the new C Class came out in 2001 and the new CLK Class came out in 2003. But I think your theory should be correct for the next set of new body styles... I guess we'll all just find out when we see the new body-styles out on the road!

There is a reason I used the V8's as an example because they introduced the 320 first in MY98 for the W208's (not W209's as you mention) only;for the W209's the 320 and 500 came out at the same time, as did the 55 for the U.S. market as 2003MY cars. It stands to reason the new coupes will be MY 2007's and the cab MY 2008's. We'll see...

Ahh i see where you're coming from now. You're basically saying that the V8 Model CLK's only last for 4 Model Years. I guess that makes sense. Btw, i mistakenly typed W209 instead of W208. We'll find out what happens soon. Also, i spoke to Rob Allan at AMG and he said that those pictures are not from Mercedes so it's highly likely that the new body style will not look like that. But... it does look kinda nice tho!

MODEL YEARS

W208 Coupes:
1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002

W208 Cabs:
1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003

W209 Coupes:
2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007

W209 Cabs:
2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008

I don't see a new body shell for the CLK class until MY 08 which should be released Summer 2007. If I am wrong, oh well.

CLK/55:

The 6 cylinder W208 came out one year prior (MY98) to the V8 (MY99); this did not occur with the 209 as the V6, V8 and AMG 55 were released all at once, so it could very well be true the new CLK will make it's debut in MY2007. Whether or not the new model is in the US at the same time as Europe is the another question.

Rafi:

Yes the rendering shown here and in lots of other places looks awesome, we can only hope the new model looks as good. I had one of the first 430 W208's in the US (then an 00, and 01) and I miss the more muscular looks of that car along with the solid thunk the doors made when closed; I do love the pillarless design of the 209 especially with all four windows down. Hopefully the new car will have the best of both worlds.
