When was the CLK(W209) first born?

How did you guys find out about it so early? Did you guys have the 208? I couldn't get my hands on one until may of 2003, and that was only because somebody backed out of their order and luckily they ordered it just the way I wanted it.

I had a BMW 3 before and had seen the pictures from whichever auto show they unveilied it at in around March 2002. I ordered the next day, and at that point there wasn't really a waiting list. I would have actually gotten mine sooner, but I changed my order and lost my original slot.

I ordered mine in May 2002 and got received it in Aug 2002. I was the first from my dealership to have the new W209 model. My previous car was 1995 Acura legend.

My CLK has just celebrated its third birthday (and now has an MOT certificate). I know this because it has just developed a fault and Mercedes initially refused to fix it under warranty.
Actually, there was a bit of a problem here. Mercedes’ computer recorded my car’s date of birth as end of May 2002, but it’s actual registration was 20th June 2002. Once we had established this fact, Mercedes did the repairs for free.

p.s. I actually ordered mine about ten months in advance, as the dealer told me there was a new model available soon.

the official introduction of the car (209) was the 4th of may in 2002. that was a saturday. on monday the 6th my brother got the car. thats why i know it. he was one of the first having this "constructive masterpiece"
