Well, I finally organized this. Below are details.

For the W209 CLK Carbon Fiber hood to be made we are looking at around 20 orders to get this done. Once we have 20 confirmed orders we will then buy a factory W209 CLK hood and use it as the mold. The hoods will then we ready in about 6 weeks. Possibly less. We are going to offer silver carbon fiber as well as black carbon fiber. The hoods will be a true OEM quality hood. The weight will be less then half of the stock hood. You can either paint these hoods to match your car, leave them carbon fiber, or do some sort of custom paint job on them. The hood will use all the stock mounting hardware from your stock hood to install. The black carbon fiber hood is $699 and silver carbon fiber will be $99 more. Again, we are looking for about 20 orders. Currently I have 2 confirmed orders. If it gets to about 15 hoods total, I will just bite the bullet and purchase the other 5 to get this done.

Now, I am making this a VERY organized group buy. For people that are interested in participating in the group buy, below is a link to check out. You will need to enter all your payment details as well as shipping info just like you are purchasing the hood. We need a $450 deposit to get the hoods ordered and the remanning amount will be charged once the hoods are completed and about to be shipped. NO ONE IS GETTING CHARGED the $450 deposit unless we get to at least 15 confirmed orders. So even though your orders are submitted, again, no one is charged unless we hit 15 orders or more. Once we hit that, you will all be charged the $450 and the manufacturing will then begin on the hoods. Shipping is a flat rate of $129 anywhere in the lower 48 states. Even if you decide to purchase the hood and check out and leave your info for the deposit, you can still backout on this up until we have 15 orders or more. If we have 15 orders or more, you cannot get a refund.

I am posting this in the C55 forum and the W209 CLK55 forum since the hoods are the same. Even the same factory part #. So if you know anyone with any of those cars that are interested, let them know.

Nice work, how much is the weight savings?

 

As of now I don't have an exact weight. But like i said, it is less then half of the stock hood weight.

 

I'll do it, but I want vents in it like the E55 folks!

Hmm, very interesting, i had no idea there was so much interest in the hood with vents. It seems like the E55 guys only want vents and now the CLK guys want vents. The C55 people never mentioned vents, i probably will not offer either one, if my CF guy can do a hood with vents i will possibly only do the hood with vents. Even if we can get the hood with vents made, we still need some more people.

 

I don't care if the hood is carbon fiber or not, especially if it's cheaper non carbon fiber. As long as it has the vents like the pic I'm interested.

 

i know its not made yet but i was wondering if you have any pics/examples of wat the black and silver carbon fiber looks like.

And yes im interested.

I wasn't considering on the group buy but after taking a look at those pics shown, I'll definitely reconsider and sign up if the carbon fiber hoods are made with those vents.

Close, but it would still be just shy of 15, and i was already hoping for 20 but will settle for 15.

But again i will know tomorrow if we can get the vents or not. There is a good chance we may not be able to, but i wont know till tomorrow.

By the way it looks if we cant do the vents we are down to only like 1-5 people as of now.

Will this be clearcoated, and if so, which type of coating is used?

I would actually prefer to get gray CF to match my interior if possible - this is the color:

 

HAha, eli, I was just thinking about that. Since we both have the same car color, the grey titanium CF would look perfect. What I think is that since Neal is making a mold, he can basically get the CF material and replicate the hood. I assume price would be different or similar. Its just the different CF material they need to get.

If neal can get the grey titanium CF hood with or without vent, and pending how much more the price is. I would love to buy one. Keep us updated. Thanks.

Funniest thing is that if this would be the fanatics board this GB would have been over and done by now w/like 50+ orders....

 

I can't believe so many people want those vents. They are pretty boring, just holes cutout. At least get vents where there's a little 'lip' to the vent, otherwise it looks like someone took a cheese-grater to the hood.

the vents does look sorta funny, i just want the cf hood then maybe get custom vents done something similar to my m3

 

Ok guys, i have some pretty good news for everyone. It appears that we are probably able to do those Brabus style vents on the CF hood!!! Nothing will be finalized till probably the end of the week. At that time we should be able to have an exact price on the hood. It should only be able 85-100 for the hood with vents.

I will keep everyone updated right when i get some more info. I am actually getting pretty excited, i think i a black CF hood with vents will be pretty nice on my C55.

Colors will be black CF and Silver CF $99 more.
