Hey guys,

I installed the C55 AMG air box into my CLK500... The air box is plug and play but the front cover is not. Had to drummel it to make it fit around the oil filter....... let me know what you think..

Looks good, but that AMG plaque doesn't deserve to be under the hood if you ask me. This is saying that the engine is an AMG, and to me thats pushing it a little.

I dont know how the AMG guys would feel about this?

Looks great though.

At least it's under the hood, if it were an AMG badge on the trunk lid that would be bad. It's his car, but I wouldn't leave the AMG badges on the cover.

Looks nice, but I'd have just gotten the stock one CF'd since it's just for looks.

Dont listen to these haters. That AMG air box looks tight as hell. And it's an AMG Air box. So why is their a problem. What do these people want you to do? Scratch off the AMG. Its a dam AMG air box, where is the missrepantaion? Not like these **** down here that change badges to read CLK55 //AMG on their CLK320/500. Now thats being a poser. CLK500 bodykits, Stocks wheels ect. are AMG. Should we scratch them off??

[QUOTE=carlssonW208Rs]will this fit the CLk320 ?

[QUOTE=dronellis] so do you think that the C55 engine cover will fit W209 CLK 320?let me know ok?

Carlsson/Dronellis

I don't believe this mod will fit in a CLK320 due to the engine size... Since the C55 and CLK500 are both V8's the air box is direct plug and play.

[QUOTE=genechien] is the c55 airbox any larger than the stock one or give you any kind of performance increase?

Genechien,

I have not dyno'd the car with the new air box but I can hear the air being sucked in from the new air box when i press on the gas and also its a bit more responsive.....

[QUOTE=MB Fanatic] Looks good, but that AMG plaque doesn't deserve to be under the hood if you ask me. This is saying that the engine is an AMG, and to me thats pushing it a little.

[QUOTE=Mason00] Pathetic..... You don't have an AMG Engine.

MB fanatic, Mason00

Your comment will re-open a subject that has been beaten to death on the forums..... I have expressed my position on this subject and will re-iterate.... I am not trying to fool anyone here nor there about my CLK500. I think that AMG is a tuner just like Brabus or Carlsson.... I am just upgrading my car parts to AMG. I have AMG exhaust, AMG brake kit, AMG twin spokes, and AMG airbox....(thanks Josh for the hook up) ..... I think its a cosmetic/performance upgrade and not that of trickery.... Now if I took off my CLK500 and replaced it with a CLK55 then "YES", i deserve the bashing... Also, what your basically saying IS that anything that AMG puts out doesn't deserve to be on a NON-AMG car? That includes AMG wheels, Brake kit, Trunk lid, AMG body skirting, and exhaust.....ALL CLK500's come with AMG rims, body kit straight from the factory.... I don't see why I am posing. My car is still a CLK500 with AMG parts. I don't understand your arguement..... but everyone is entitled to there opinion.....

Thanks EVeryone for your props......

AMG air box

It looks great & I'm sure it function well. - Plus some pride in workmanship. You Have probably been looking at the choses out there. AMG or the expensive Renntech, which not all of us can afford . Go for some Green Filters & have the ECU upgraded by Kleemann Or EVOsport.

The purist have their point of View & have the right to stand by them also. They too are pridefull in their purchase of the AMG .Package. Just as you , are for the Air box upgrade . Go with what you can afford !!

PTE,

THanks for you comments... Actually i was not thinking of putting in an air box until my friend Josh was selling his for a killer price...... I got the AMG air box for 1/10 of the price of an Renntech one.... so i cannot complain. And I DO have green filters in my air box...hahahah....

I agree - the box looks great - but the engine plaque must go because the engine isn't "hand built" , yes you can have all the AMG add-ons you want and yes you're not re-badging your car - but , the badge cannot remain. What are you going to say when you pop your hood and someone says "What's that plaque ? ". Remove the badge and save yourself the explanation.
