Window tint

I was wondering, is there a specific way to tint clk windows because the shift in place when the door is closed? Which place would be a great place yo have it done? Its difficult, cause i've noticed alot of you guys are from New Jersey and New York, and also Cali (and sorry if i missed any other places) But i'm in Louisiana and in the area i live in its harder to find decent places to mod cars.

There's a switch in the car that can be set so that the door thinks its closed and the window stays in the up position. That's what my tint place did so they could get the whole window. Of course, make sure you deactiviate the switch before you close the door, or your window will hit the sill.

on the door or the door frame... a little button you press, and hold down... tricks the sensors into thinking the door is shut... thats how it is on most cars... however, jello2594 might be talkin bout another switch...

No, you're right.. that's the switch I'm talking about. They either put tape over it, or a piece of wood or something.

ask carwash owners, car dealerships, bodyshop owners, other car accessory places for a local tinting shop.

your mercedes dealer can do it for you but they will ask for $600. Mine got done by the guy who does the tints for Silverstar Ralyee, Helms Bro's MB. I got his personal information and he did it for $275 including tinting and felt change...

Go to http://www.iwfa.com/iwfamembers/BullseyePro/Search.asp

That is the International Window Film Association. They have a database of certified window tinters in your area, just put in your Zip Code

I got mine done for $220. Make sure you get the Madico film, it's the best out there and has a lifetime guarantee against peeling, bubbling, and fading.

I'm getting my windows tinted on saturday. Its cost will be about 290, the company was recommended by my dealership. Its supposed to be some sort of ceramic tint, with a life time warranty on the film and labor. As for the % no idea as of yet, i suppose i'll figure it out when i'm there.

I had mine tinted with Solarguard for $120 (20% on the doors, 5% on the back 3 windows and 5% brow on the windshield). $120 with the Lifetime Nationwide warranty.

I'll be moving to NYC in about a year... and I guess I'll have to keep my TX plates somehow, or I'll have to get my tint stripped by the fist cop I meet.

I ended up going with 35% all around, mainly because i saw a pic of a benz they completed with that and it looked dark enough, but not illegal to where a cop will strip it or for my family to complain and lecture. Well, i didnt think about my white/tan interior.... so it didnt come out so dark . Its funny because when i came home my mom said "why didnt you go darker?". She was the one giving the speech that if i get ticketed im paying for it lol The Louisiana tint reg is 40% 25% and 12% i think might be off by a little.

same thing is with mine. It's Black with Stone interior. First I got it tinted with 20% all the way around, but it was way too light (esp. because of the interior color). That's when I went to the shop and asked to put on a second coat of 20% on the back 3 windows. In my previous post I said they are 5%, but they seem to be darker than 5%.

Good thing about TX is that there is no legal limit set for the back windows

I just got 35% tint put on yesterday. It could go much darker, but I wanted to keep it legal. All in all, I'm still very happy and since my car is black, the tints definitly compliment it.

I'm not sure, my film was madico. I decided not to go with the ceramic at the last second.

If I am not mistaken the ceramic tint is the same nano-tech, ceramic-platelet containing, harder and tougher than everything else shiznit like the MBZ nano-paint.

The function of ceramic was great, and the cost wasnt so bad, but for cosmetic and almost close function, i went with madico. Does ceramic only come in a grey-ish green?
