Hey guys, fellow clk 500 owner here needs your help.

My third brake light is cracked and my dealer wont replace it, says its going to cost me $220 for the little piece of plastic junk. anyone know where i can order it online?

Its actually pretty funny, i bought the car in because i was having transmission problems, there was a grinding sound at 40 mph and 70 mph and the car was jerking between gears. They gave me a brand new transmission, torque converter, and radiator, but they werent willing to replace my plastic 3rd brake light.... go figure.... just curious anyone else have this problem with their transmission? and what did they say the cause of it was? Thanks... keep pimpin boys (and girls).

had the problem, they fixed it no questions asked.... which dealer did you go to? since your in nyc try stopping by sovereign mercedes in brooklyn off the belt parkway, i have been there a few times and they have been very helpful.

The parts counter at my dealer quoted me $150 for the parts.

Mine had also cracked and was partly coming away but the dealer replaced it under warranty (here in the UK).

i still wish they had a clear one.... that would be so hot! would probably require red LED's but it would look great

Yeah a clear one would look great, is there anyone out there with any idea's on how to get a clear one it there any other manufactor we could approach??

Had this happen twice so far and no questions asked, it was replaced within 24hrs.

They did say that if it happened again, I would have to pay for it to be replaced but if that happens - watch me freak out!!

saw something funny this morning, a clk with NO third brake light, it must have fallen out....someone should tell them to lay off the slamming of the trunk lol

Just a thought, if your usual dealer refuses to change it, go to another dealership and see how you get along. If they refuse, then you just take 30 mins and write out a huge complaint to your usual dealer. Mail it and wait 7 days and then write another if you've received an unsatisfactory reply. I've done this and guess what... I've had everything fixed when they initially refused.

I never slam the trunk/boot, never have and never will. I've driven without the light for almost a week when my local dealer didn't have the part, nor was it in the country.
