CLK500 good deal?
i might buy a 2005 (2004 build date) CLK500 with 15,500 miles and i wanna know if its a good deal or if i should negotiate the price
05 CLK500 15kmiles
pewter/charcoal
sunroof
heated seats
cd changer
standard warranty
asking price is $46500 from the dealer. Do you think i can get it down to $44-45k? (dealer said the price is on sale because it was originally $49k.
Any other tips/suggestions when i go look and test drive the car?
thanks
BD
price is abit too steep
do you get the parkatonic device for your parking?
u should get a better price buddy
try to bargain
otherwise buy privately instead of buying in the showroom
you will save $$

yeah im def. gonna try to negotiate the price... according to edmunds, trade in value is around $41k so im gonna offer them $44k. The car does not have parktronic, unfortunately.
Are there any reliability issues with the 05 CLK500s?

IMO See if dealer will throw in an extra yr on the warranty then give him what they're looking for. If they won't deal tell em to call you when they're ready to accept your offer.
Best of luck on your endeavor.
All of you guys with 05 CLK500s, are u happy with them (do u get bored or do u always have a smile on ur face when u drive it?)... MBUSA says 0-60 of 5.7secs, does it feel much faster than this?
thanks,
BD
It was Nov-2003 and I can't remember exactly how much was the saving. When the MB salesman found me a 2004 CLK320 demo with 6K KM and with the right options, I gave them a price and asked them to call me when he was ready to meet my price. It was near the end of the month, he called 2 days after. He gave me my price with the only condition that I had to give a deposit before the last day of the month.
So, give them a price and walk away. Of course, there is always the risk that someone else would buy the car before you.
Good luck.

that is what im gonna do... i actually have a deposit on a 06 porsche cayenne v6 with their sister porsche dealership and the sales guy knows it. im gonna give him my price and tell him that if he doesnt call me within 24 hours to accept or pass on offer (they will probably make a counter offer) then im gonna buy the porsche. i think the sales guy will want to do business and not lose out on a sale. But the truth is i dont want to buy the porsche cuz the CLK500 is cheaper and a much cooler car for a young guy like myself.
anyways thanks for all the input,

thanks for the info on the transmission problem!
i think it's the best 500 all around for a sporty drive, stable and a great car...
i have the '05 with the 7-speed which seems to shift very nicely... even though I prefer the 5-speed in the AMG, the CLK500 is a great car nonetheless.
i would highly recommend it to any buyer in the market, i think it's truly a superb car...
