Anyone here have a subwoofer setup ?

I am getting a JL w7 sub soon and wanted to see if anyone has a box suited for our cars. I heard the trunk for mercedes cars are pretty soundproof, so i dont know what kind of box i'll need to get the sound into the car.

anyone?
any pics?

I have 2 JL W6 in my trunk, and it sounds great. I didnt even have to dynmat the car. The internal insellation is great. Only think that might rattle is your license plate holder.

I actually dynomated the back of my license plate to solve that rattle, but i beleive a few stips of double sided tape would solve that problem

wow, that's sick!

I was thinking of a setup that's cheap. Spending too much on the actual sub already...don't want to spend too much on a box that i'll probably never open the trunk to show people anyways.

oh yeah,

ported or closed box better for our cars. I'm looking for a crisp, hard-hitting bass, not airy.

thanks

I think a sealed box would be better for the sound you are looking to achieve

I agree, sealed is much better sound. It tends to hit harder and has true depth to the pitch.

I sealed in between the grids of the trunk lid with DAP and double sided tape and it works very well. My buddy was an installer and turned me on to that trick. Dynomat is very profitable for stereo shops but that stuff likes to fall off when mounted up right + because of the trunk lid grid hard to apply properly.

my spare tire well rattles like crazy when my stuff is turned up...i was thinking about taking a can of that spray foam, shaking it up and tossing it in there, then shooting it with a pellet gun. I don't know if that would solve my problem or not, but would be crazy fun to do regardless

Is the wiring difficult to do? Where does it all go? and has anyone just gone completely crazy and used suede all over their interior throughout the car?

As far as i remember, wiring was a nightmare. I took me and my buddy one FULL day just to wire up the entire system, though mine was a really complex system. Id say one of the hard parts was trying to get the wire from the front battery all the way to the rear, mainly cuz whe had to drill a hole large enought to go through the engine to the interal body of the car.

As for suede, I have suede door panels, suede rear seats, headliner, and front dash that is black suede and silver double stiched.

How much did all the suede cost ( $$$ per yard?) Was there a custom fabrication place that installed it for you?

I have a question for those who have a system installed in your CLK. Is there a spot where you could put the power wire through the firewall or did you have to drill a hole to feed it through?
