CLK500
350z vs CLK 500

Anyone have any idea what the out come would be?

Their weight is almost the same, hp maybe depending on the tranny. Their tq is a bit lower. A friend has one and of course the occasion hint on racing occurs, but i now drive like a granny and are extremely cautious wehn driving.
I just wanted a basic idea of an out come.

I hate to be a "magazine racer," but the clk500's consistently do mid-high 13's and trap at 103-104.5. The z barely cuts high 13-low 14's (manual) and trap around 99-102. In all honestly, it'll be a driver's race...well at least from a dig. From a roll, you'll kill him easily, just make sure you're in the right gear when you go from a roll.

Having had both cars, currently still have the CLK, the CLK will win.

Stock vs stock the clk500 hands down. My 350z had exhaust intake headers pulleys ecu reset. The car with those mods was doing a 13.21. In all honesty from a dig the 350z with those mods might have you till 40 but the V8 then just romps it. Even my 350z with those mods if I raced a CLK500 at a roll I would lose. No matter how good you are at shifting, you cant beat an auto from a roll. You just stomp on it and go. Also, the 350z once you start getting higher mph will just keep falling farther and farther back. AutoX would be a different story.

AmSFighter: I thought our cars do 13.9-14.2 1/4 from reading diff mags? Where did you get mid 13s from? I'd like to see the link cause thats nice to know. Anyone on the boards ever run the clk500 in the 1/4? If so what times!!!!??

CLK500. I know from experience All the torque I had let me pull on him easily.

2005 CLK500
Straight Line

Definitely CLK. Also, if you have a 7-speed, which is a tiny bit faster than a 5-speed, you should be able to smoke him even if you don't know how to drive. Just put it on S-mode and slam your gas pedal like a man! I raced a CLK55 three months ago. We were right next to each other from 0 to about 70mph. We couldn't go faster because the road came to an end. The AMG model was literally 1 foot ahead of me. Actually, the guy hit the gas and brake pedals at the same time from zero. I didn't. Definitely gave him that one foot advantage. The amount of torque we have in our cars is just amazing. I've also raced and beat a BMW 645 coupe and a Cayenne Turbo. Haven't touched the engine yet but the weight on my car has been drastically reduced.

Regards,

Joe

the outcome is like this: the clk 500 is more desireable after the race no matter which one wins!

my bro's accord v6 beats 350z, honestly i would not even waste my gas nor time racing a 350z or a g35, honestly there overrated. i mean there only nissans. that new skyline GTR however is a diff story, well as long as the tranny is working

your performance off the line (wheelspin) has a lot to do with the driver
