I just dropped by the dealer. Finally got a chance to see the car in person... the amg package really rocks, the interior looks really nice with the titanium patterned trim and the two tone leather (mine's blue). I guess the general "plastic-feel" problem does not occur with the amg package which only comes with 500s, the trim does not feel plasticky at all, it feels very solid... Anyway, the seatbelt dispenser does feel a little flimsy but it doesn't really matter cuz it only sticks out when the car is running. Also, only 500s come with blue tinted windows, so that stands out pretty nicely. About the exterior, I am a little disappointed with the fact that the front grill resembles too much of the c-class. The back looks fine even though it does look similar to volvo... but as long as there is a mercedes badge in the back to distinguish it from the rest, it's all good Anyway, the car does seem a little pricy, base price is 52k, but fully equipped costs 66k... i'm getting it for sure.... but I just can't get it over my mind that it costs the same as the sc430 hard top convertible....(exactly 67k)

66k? wow.. must have been maxed-out with distronic; as 62.9 for mine was with all but that and heated seats.

One of my close friends sells Lexus, and went with me for the delivery of the CLK... he says it blows the SC away, and that their is no Lexus with factory voice activated phone etc., or even any phone at all (to my surprise). Of course Lexus caters to quite a different buyer (from what I gather) than MB, and though I once had an SC430 (when they first came out), it was too 'vanilla' for me, in terms of lacking personality. So it's CLK's and SL's, and the new SC just doesn'tcut it in style... the new CLK rocks, more than I suspected, and in some ways seems ahead of the SL (is that a possibilty?) in comfort.

cheers!

mine's a capri blue, with blue two tone interior. I was glad that they blend in pretty nicely together with the blue tinted windows. Anyway, the car seems pricy but it's really distronic that got it up so high. It's a nifty feature that is quite unique especially it's the first time they offered on the clks, and I think that's exclusive to mb, although i think it's offered on the lexus ls.
Anyway, this car rocks... but i'm not sure if it rocks more than the sl.... it's in a different league and it is a hard top convertible even though they share the same engine.

By the way, stockseer, are you referring to the new sc430 or the sc400?... the clk500 definitely beats hand down on the sc400... I have the sc400 for a while, and I have always wanted to look for a replacement coupe. So i got the sc430 but it never quite did the job....and now fianlly I found the perfect replacement....
the sc430 is definitely an eye roller, i suspect the clk is not going to get as much attention as the sc430 does... oh well, i will post some pix when I pick up the car.

I'm sorry... I meant I had the SC400 when it first came out.. fine car, but not as much 'soul' (hard to describe) as an MB. The SC430 is a good car, according to my friend who sells them, but he says my new CLK500 is in another league... I'm not sure; not all that many 'looks' that I've noticed, but the CLK seems quite sophisticated in it's (moderate?) class, and defnitely updated from the former (208) version, in virtually every aspect I've found.

cheers...

That is a little high for the car, but if you are happy with it, that's all that matters.... Sounds like a nice color/interior combo, you had to pay the $1150 Special Order did you, that will jack the price up as well!!!! Please post pics of the interior, I really like that combination, but have not seen it in person yet!!! Thanks in advance
