HELLO! 4th day of owning my very own 2006 CLK350! It's no AMG but it still just looks soooo good! Ya'll have no idea how psyched I've been! Is it just me or, from the right angle, the front end conjures thoughts of an SLR? Just a few questions:
1) Does anyone understand why MB didn't make a CLK63 coupe that wasn't a BlackSeries?
2) Are the fenders on AMG CLKs really not flared at all compared to a non AMG? Saw some posts with AMG bumper replacements for non AMGs.
3) There's just no way AMG brake calipers will bolt right up to the wheel spindles of a 350! That has to be too good to be true but some old posts implied that someone put AMG brakes on a non AMG.

1. They did make a 63 coupe, but not for the us market.
2. I don't think they are flared, just might be rolled to prevent rubbing.
3. Direct bolt on. If you plan on getting the calipers get the slk,clk55 calipers bc the disk is a bit smaller and will save you money. The 63 is slightly larger and costs more.

Oh of course, how silly of me. The European market... I thought N.A. was AMGs largest customer. Oh well, lol.
An addendum to the brakes question; since you mention disk size/price, have your or anyone here heard of someone slappin on some carbon disks. I know it's crazy $$$$ but that would be way cool (and we can get them OEM)!

Anything is Possible$$$ lol. There would be no benefit unless you track.
I had a 09 350 and it came with the clk550 front calipers because it was a special for it being last pproduction year along with amg kit and exhaust. I went with Porterfield pads and is a day and night difference.
If you are going for looks Theb by all mean go with the 05 clk front and rear calpers.
If you want more stopping power go to the classified and there are 2 people selling stoptech st-40 front calipers.the clk55 front and rear will give you stopping power but a used set will run u a grand+ extra.
I had buyers remorse after the 09 clk350 akd ended up giving that car to my sis and getting a 09 550. Best decision ever. Now if the 63 coupe was available in N.A.... that might be another story.... my future has clk63bs in it

It's definitely a looks thing for me. I have no qualms with the stopping power of the stock brakes (but I'm surprised to see an 06 with 260 hp have one piece solid rear disks...). While still on appearance, carbons also won't rust when the car has been sitting (mine have rust on them now after just one rainy night) so that's pretty nice I guess.
As far as a 63 BS is concerned, very nice! That future could be soon. I saw some not too bad deals for some on the interwebs.
