modifying my clk 320 coupe

hey guys, just found this site a couple days ago, and i've enjoyed reading through the whole forum lol

i was wondering if you guys could help me

so basically i have a 2004 stock clk 320 coupe. nothing installed, completely stock. what would you guys recommend me upgrading first to improve performance of the car (hp gain, etc, etc) ? i know most of the upgrades are going to be pretty expensive, but anything that's cost effective first?

how about getting an upgrade for the air intake system? or a pulley kit? ecu upgrade? which one of those would benefit my car by installing it first?

are you going for looks? or are you concerned about the hp/torque? i would suggest maybe getting springs or coilovers to lower your car, and also buy a nice set of rims..maybe 19s?

If you want to get a nice exhaust sound from your car, go with the eisenmann, many of us have it on our cars..sounds really aggressive.

chip should prob be your first mod, then go on with intakes and then forced induction etc... one member has a SICK supercharged clk500, i think his name is freak34 or something along those lines

Hello, as far as the air intake goes basically everyone goes with renntech, which in my experence can be expensive. Also as far air filters goes do not use k&n more guys are useing green filters with great sucess. Do a search on k&n MAF. In my car all i have done was chipped it useing speedtuningusa which was very cheap and i highly recommend. As well as wrapping my stock air box in thermotec. I also got rid of the resonator which doesnt really help power but makes it sound good. Look at companys such as renntech or kleeman for tuning. hope this helps

what exactly will gettin green filters do? (and do i really need 2 for my 2004 clk 320 coupe)? will i get more power? more sound? louder?

also, what exactly does the thermotec do in covering the intake and airbox? i know it keeps it cooler, but wat are the pros?

im not sure if my friend is serious or not, but he said one of his friends just took two metal pipes and just replaced the stock intake tubes and put on k&n filters on the bottom?

is that doable?

You gotta get 2 air filters, I reccomend Green, I haven't had one problem yet (its been a year and I haven't touched the filters) and I did see an increase in performance.

I did the SpeedTuningUSA ECU upgrade and I reccomend it. I supposedly got an extra 25hp. I can definitely feel the difference and reccomend it.

I did the Eiesenmann Race Exhaust and I also reccomend that. I could feel a performance difference, but of course, the main thing with that is the amazing muscle car sound you get.

I got the resonator removed, minor (if any) performance upgrade, just sounds a little nicer.

19" TSW Bremmas staggered wheels look VERY nice and the wide rear wheels help you launch, though stock rims probably perform the best. If you want to go with a different air intake, your only shot is going with Renntech or having a custom one built. I've already researched air intakes and I don't think its worth getting for our cars, it'll cost way too much for minimum performance.

Headers and catalytic converter delete would probably be one of the best upgrades we could do for our cars without going crazy. Kleeman makes them.

There is the EvoSport pulley kit, but that is basically useless for our n/a cars, you may see like 10hp increase but I don't think messing with your engine is worth that, especially because the dealer will spot that and your warranty will most likely be voided.

The best upgrade you can get is probably the Kleeman Supercharger. It'll cost you just under 15 grand installed. It should give you at least 500 crank hp. Also, Kleeman makes the headers and exhaust, cam upgrades, etc. So if you want to get the best performance and have the money, go Kleeman.

I was looking into a Nitrous setup, but for now I'll stay away from it. You can probably get a nitrous setup for around $2000 and get a 50-100hp increase. But you have probably heard all the stories about nitrous, not to mention that it will totally void your warranty and its illegal to drive around with it hooked up. I still may want to get it in the future.

Unfortunately, theres not that much we can do to our n/a cars without emptying our wallets.

does anyone know how to remove the front bumper if there's an easier way to remove the headlights without taking off the bumper? thanks for the help in advance!
