Lowenhart Ldr ??

anyone with the 19' lowenharts have any problems with them? everytime i go over potholes (and trust me i try to avoid them as much as i can) i bend the inside of the rim. the first time it was the front and back right rims. then the second, was the front right and now the back right again.

the rims bend enough so that it can't hold any air in the tire...........so frustrating!!

what pressure in the tires? How fast were you going when you bent them?

Ouch, I've had my TSW 19" wheels for a couple of months now and haven't had any problems, I'd think Lowenhart would be very tough. And yeah, how fast were you going 'cuz it must have hit very hard for you to bend a rim like that.

Man that sucks, I would think that Lowenhart's would stand up to potholes even at that speed. We have major pothole problems out here in So Cal. and my Brabus Reps (because my car is a daily driver I cant justify spending $5k for some authentics when the potholes will f*** them up) havent given me any problems yet. Its unfortunate that you paid so much for those rims and they arent holding up as they should. Good luck and hopefully you can find a solution to this problem.

From my experience and what I've been told, the replicas actually hold up better and are stronger than the real ones because the real ones (or expensive ones like HRE's) are much lighter in weight and are more susceptible to bending. I've hit some pretty nasty potholes before with my TSW's and haven't gotten one bend.

you should have 35 psi @ all times, I think you had too much pressure. Then again, Lowenharts always bend after a while.

i usually keep between 40-40psi. if theres any less, the tire looks low. i have low pro tires and the rim only sits like 1- 1.5 inches off the ground....but yea everytime they bend, i have to take off the rim and bang it with a rubber mallot! but im looking at buying some brabus replicas since i cant find the real ones anywhere!!! what size do you guys think 18 or 19?

Well, I do not have a CLK but I had a set of AMG chrome wheels. I hit a 4x4 (wood, not truck) and bent the inside of my rim. When I did some research, I read that the chrome process weakens the wheel. This is why german cars come over with non-chrome wheels and it is done in the states at the dealer. They don't chrome wheels over there. I was really surprised to hear that. Not sure if it will help to go to non-chrome wheels. Was never able to verify this but figured I would put it out there.

BTW, nice CLK. There is a member selling Brabus VIs for 3600. Check the C class forums. 19 8.5 and 9.5 that will fit your car. Just call Brabus for the fit kit for the W209 and you would be set.
