steering problems and squealing sound when turning at low speeds

has anyone else had any problem with steering especially right after a cold start? The ride seems harsher and i thought it was because the tires were cold but could be something else.

Also, when i turn at low speeds, i hear this squeaking sound sometimes. I read somewhere on this forum it could be a mounting issue.

Can someone help?

Check your power steering fluid level, you might have a leak. I had the same problem on my 320...

I was still under warranty, so the repair was free. I can only imagine how much MB would have charged if it wasn't. Good luck to you...

i was under warranty also because I had the extended warranty.

BUt I paid about $750 for bushings, new engine mounts, and struts (or sway bars. I dont remember which one it was.)

I had the same problem. just got it fixed under warranty. I think they replaced the torque strut bushings. hope this helps.

gbahri: are u saying that this was not covered under your extended warranty? what kind of warranty do you have? My warranty is expiring soon, and i'm not sure which one to get.

It was covered under extended warranty. I got all the work done at about 98,000 miles or so and I didn't have to pay anything.

I love my car.

Besides that I had the car shut off on me in the middle of the road once. Turned out ot be a faulty thing in the gas pedal, but this was recently at 103,000 miles.

Maybe its your tires? They might need balancing and an alignment.

a bit of an update...

took the car to a local mechanic at a gas station near work just to see if i could get a free inspection. I know some dealers charge 70 bucks just to see if there is a problem.

Turns out my rear tires were warped. HOw the hell does that happen? The guy said they were egg-shaped and causing the vibration. Could have been worse i guess. needed new tires anyways.

Now just have to deal with this squeaking issue in the front passenger side when turning after cold starts.
