Here is my 2 cents:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2002 CLK:

(Positive)
Tough Chunky Style Mercedes that looks like you could drive it through a concrete wall....and walk away!

(Negative)
Looks like your Dad's MB, not the IT professional's MB.
Interior needs updating.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2003 CLK:

(Positive)
Sleek, sexy, better handling, better interior.
Chris Bangle from BMW didn't design it. <-- couldn't resist!
Drives more like a Mercedes used tooo...years ago!

(Negative)
It's hard to tell it apart form other MB's
Borrows a lot from the C class
What's with the rear calipers?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just a few points...

Talking

Ben Affleck told me that the old W208/CLK brought him too much trouble in the Movie "Changing lane"
He decide to trade a new one W209/CLK just K/D.

My feelings are this:

W208 - Muscular look and has more of an E-class touch.
Rides a little rough with the V8, but handles great!

W209 - New look is a bit generic and tends to get lost in the
crowd, too much borrowing from the C-class
Ride is much improved and handling is better than ever!

I still have not completely fell in love with the W209!!!!

Both are terrific. But, the W208 now looks dated to me (may become a "classic" in a way since it is the first of the CLKs). The W209 is a natural evolution to being more of a sport coupe. Losing the hood ornament alone is a great improvement for sportiness. It is now a mid-sized version of the CL in many respects and I like that (I prefer the size of the CLK). The fact that the C230 shares some design features doesn't bother me because it is so much smaller and the rear end not nearly as attractive.

To fall in love with the W209, you must see it in person or see it cruising down the road.

The 209 is a sweet looking car, and it still screams MB!

My brother has the 2003 model and I have the 2002 model. I think the 03 models look more girly. The 02 looks more muscle. I like the improvements on the inside like the telescopic steering wheel, I like the seats, the woodgrain around the stick and the room in the glove compartment. I just don't care to much for the outer body, but to each his own.

its beacuse you have a 2002...

but anyway either model is nice
but i personally think the 2003 is way better in term of looks like many others do
put an AMG bodykit and it will look agressive(the 320)

besides i dont think the w208 look maskuline/tough.....
i think the w208 looks feminine too

I'm a proud CLK500 owner.. and I can tell you I'm nothing short of thrilled with it thus far. I love the look, and I love the drive. There is room for improvements I suppose, but with eventual mods.. its a homerun.

The W209 grows on you. Girly? Whatever...It won't look girly as I jam the my CLK 500 down the highway at 150+ mph.
