Moven SC1's on the CLK550

Put some 19's on the car to replace the crappy 17's it came with.

Those are really nice man. they do kinda resemble the new 63 wheels but I think the 63 wheels have thinner spokes I think those look more like the S class wheels.. I think. None the less I like the look.

Yes. 8.5" front, 9.5" rear. Got them from Modbargains.com. Great price and fast shipping (3 days!)

I feel like a celebrity now!!

Honestly, I found them the same way - via a Google search. Talked to the guy Mike and he was very helpful and knowledgeable - he even checked with Moven regarding the fitment before he would place the order. Price was even cheaper than eBay.

There does not seem to be any great deterioration in ride quality either. There is a bit more transmission of jolts from a pothole or speedbump but otherwise still very compliant.

eclou,
I love your wheels. Exactly the design I would like to get.
I also have same complaint with the 17" wheels that came with my CLK 550 coupe. Way too understated for a car with such performance.
Have you had any previous experience with Moven wheels? How strong are they? And did you lower your car?
I had a terrible experience with BBS RXII wheels that I had installed on my previous Audi A6 2.7T. It bent like crazy and cost me a fortune. That's why I'm asking.

The Movens are cast - heavy replicas which are close to 30# or more. I am sure they are no where near as strong as a forged wheel. Couple that with a shorter sidewall and you might run into problems with damage. They are cheap enough that a replacement is hardly more than sending it to Wheels America though. I have no prior experience with Moven, and never modded my E55 (my first Merc). The CLK as of today is still on stock springs.

I picked up some Hankook tires locally off the classifieds here 235/35/19 and 265/30/19. Those appear to be the recommended +2 tire sizes. They fit ok on the wheels - they do appear slightly stretched on the wheels. That makes the lip protector less prominent. Some tires are wider than others of the same size - Bridgestones come to mind.

BTW I ran an R6 almost dead even from 55-120mph or so when I was stock in the TT. Nice bike

I did not weigh them but the shipping boxes were marked 32# by UPS. Estimate 3-5# for the boxes and the wheels should be just a touch under 30#.

Just as a note the stock lugbolts do not fit. Do not try to use them you will strip out the holes. You need to order 12mm x 1.5 thread pitch 27-29mm thread length with BALL seats. I ordered a set off ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...4794563&rd=1,1

You cannot use cone seat bolts as you will never get a true torque down on the wheel - very dangerous!!
