Hello New to the Forums

Hello Everyone,

Just introducing myself since I got myself a 03 CLK500 two days ago.
Traded in my Rx8 and decided to try out some luxury.
This site and users here helped me a lot on making my final decision.

I'm having such a hard time with all these new buttons all over the car. I read the manuals and it's so hard trying to get used to a German car haha.

Welcome!

You'll find the Mercedes is a 100% Excellent all around car... it may not be the fastest, but all the other factors combined makes it beat all the other cars, not to mention getting more Respect!

All the controls are well thought out and very user friendly, so go ahead and play and learn the functions... but you still have to read the Owner's manual front to back to learn all the tricks the car can do!

The more Options, the more Tricks... Which Options do you have?

One word of Warning... Do not race Mustangs!!! You have nothing to prove, you have the best car - a Mercedes - let them go burn up their engine and tires!

Enjoy and keep us posted ..

welcome to the board!

I went from a TSX to the CLK and the manual was about 3 times bigger. There's so much to read and after a while I just gave up. I just learned things on the fly lol.

Please post a pix of your ride... we'll help you mod it right the first time around... and keep you away from the Bling !!!

I went from a toyoa to a 280E and then right up the line...

Do you have a Burl Wood steering wheel??? That's a Must-Have for luxury/ comfort/ peace-of-mind and is a fast 30 minute DIY mod!

Haha I just mentioned I'm trying to get away from modding, and here is everyone trying to help me mod

I will try to have some pictures up soon.
This car is 2 years older than my Rx8, but the technology is so much more advanced

Adding a Burl Wood steering wheel is not modding... it's adding the Luxury you want and can see/feel in your hands ... and only takes 30 minutes to DIY!

The Mercedes is much more serious car than the Mazda and has a long history. It will also be worth a lot more long after the Mazda has turned into a pile of junk! The engineering of your Panzer is self evident.. just compare the ash tray compartment/assembly of both cars... over separate 50 pieces VS. maybe 5 pieces in the Mazda?

Enjoy... and hard!

Are the brake pads on this car easy to change?
Are they like any other car? or is there like a special other way of replacing them?
My brakes were squealing when I got them, and I was planning to change out the pads on the weekends if I had time.

Smile

Hi,

Here is what I have on mod upgrade steering wheel...

Many thanks to Koingstiger for the DIY site and to Benz-O-Rama for the DIY:

https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....71&postcount=1

Go to eBay and search for Mercedes wood steering wheel to find vendors... good price is around $499.00 brand new for W209 wood steering wheel.

Make sure the wood color is the same as your car's trim... do not assume the photograph color is correct.

Hope this helps... Enjoy
