reset service light
#2
Once the dealer told me how to reset the warning indication light and everything. Let me test my LTM skill
First, lock all the doors and windows and Move your car forward for about 5 feet and steer all the way to the left and then all the way to the right total 10 times. I don't know If you have to restart the engine or not but Let me know how it works out for you.

Yes you can reset the service light yourself. If you bring up the service on the display on the dash I think you press and hold the reset button for 4 seconds it will ask if you want to reset and then you press the reset button again. I will check in the hand book tomorrow but I’m sure that’s how you do it.

Here's the steps for my 2006 Clk 500 Cabriolet:
With the display in the "default" normal driving position, (this should be speed or temperature)
1) Put the key in the ignition
2) Turn the key on to ignition position (1 click only)
3) Within 3 second after the ignition is turned on to position 1, push the "reset" *** 3 times. A display Voltages manual should appear on your cluster.
4) Now turn the key to ignition position 2 ( 2nd clicks)
5) Use the arrow up/down command on your steering wheel to change your screen on your cluster until you see the "Services A/B" indicator on your cluster.
6) Within 3 seconds once you see the "Services A/B " indicator appear on the cluster, press and hold the reset *** for at least 3 seconds.
7) You now should see the "Service interval" manual on the cluster and it will ask you if you want to reset the "Service interval".
8) Within 3 second after you see the "service interval" manual appear on your cluster, press and hold the reset *** one more time for another 3 seconds.
9) You now should see a message appear "Service interval" has been reset.
I also discovered how to turn on/off the ESP completely for dyno test when I was going through trying figure out how to reset my FSS.
DYNOMOMETER ESP ON/OFF PROCEDURE:
1) Repeat steps 1-3 above
2) Use the arrow up/down on your steering wheel to change the screen until you see "Dynomometer testing" manual
3) Use the "-/+" on your steering wheel to turn the ESP ON/OFF for Dynomometer testing.
Since all 2006 models doesn't came with the oil dipstick and you can't really check it. I also discovered how to check the oil level as you would check your oil with the dipstick and know exactly how much oil is in your engine. Don't get confuse this procedure with the electronic on board oil level check like on the old models that only check oil level to see if the oil level is low or high. My new discovered procedure check to see EXACTLY how much oil is in your engine.
CHECK OIL LEVEL:
With the display in the "default" normal driving position, (this should be speed or temperature).
1) Repeat steps 1-3 (of the FSS service reset procedure)
2) Now use the arrow up/down command key on your steering wheel to change the screen manual on your cluster until you see
oil level "_/_" on your screen.
3) Now turn the ignition key to position 2 (2nd clicks)
4) The oil level "_/_" now will appear with a numbers. Mine showed 6.9 right after engine turn off and 10 mins later it showed 7.5

There are time base services registered within FSS. I recalled for the E Class, there is opportunity to set the date/days so that the time base services won't kick in within the default 12 months cycle.
Any clues???
Thanks again
BTW, these instructions appears to work on the 2008 CLK cab but the dip stick is available for the 2008 CLK350 engine, therefore the "check oil level" instructions are not valid.

ONLY use these feature if you do dyno testing. When you do a dyno testing, only the rear wheel will be spinning and the front wheel are not. In a real life situation when one wheel is not spinning or spin more then the others wheel, the ECU will pull back the power to prevent accident of lost control. So on a dynometer testing, you will not be able to run the engine to max RPM without power interruption because the front wheels are not spinning if you don't turn "on" dynomometer.

Ok guys , i know this thread is old but I tried this procedure (klinh's post) on my friend CLK500-05 Coupe and it didnt works ...not sure is it because his dash showing "Service B exceeded 4500 miles" and it wont let us reset Service A. I reset my service A on my car long time ago and yes it works fine. Anyone here got that message before on your dash ? How did you solve that ?
Thanks,
Andy

My procedure are for the 2006 Clk 500. Mercedes changed the procedure starting in 2006 models and didn't want to tell us how to reset it in the user's manual. The 2003-2005 are much easier in your User's manual.

For my 2005 CLK320 Cabriolet (W209) I used this procedure to reset the service indicator:
Get in car & close doors
turn key to position 2
use steering wheel control to bring up odometer mileage
use the select rocker to then bring up message "service "A or B Due ect.."
press & hold the R button on left side of odometer on dash
message will show
DO YOU WANT TO RESET SERVICE INTERVAL
PRESS "R"
at this point hold in the "R" button for 3 seconds
It then says service A due in 10,000 miles if you reset Service B
ALL DONE!
My reset button does not have an "R" printed on it. Mine is a long stem slim knob sticking out to the left side of the odometer display.

on my 2004 clk cabriolet, to reset service indicator, turn ignition key to position 2, scroll through menu to find service indicator message, press and hold down the reset button for 3 seconds. you will see message stating the indicator will be reset. Press the reset button again. job done.
